Quote from: Jesse on May 13, 2025, 05:20:04 PMUhm, I feel like I need a source on that. I've heard things about the Bombers looking for a while now.

Umm okay. Is the company that is contracted to put it on (and their list of collaborants good enough)?

For the record the Bombers don't even get the full cut of ticket revenue for the GC game. They get the Grey Cup tickets purchased through their own season ticket holders only (hence why all the marketing now is $100 off GC tickets with a season ticket package).

The Grey Cup AND the playoff games are the league's show. Hence also why many of the sponsors change for the playoff games only and are usually national. It also makes business sense. There is greater national reach and impressions for those games so they are controlled nationally by the league each year to maximize profitability.

I always thought there was an option for the team to buy the GC game if they thought they could make more money, or just take what the league gives them.

It makes sense to have your own promotions if you have a good chance of being in it.  Otherwise it is hosting a game of rival teams in a very cold environment.  A hard sell at the best of times.

Cal Murphy started that trend in order to bring the Grey Cup game to Wpg,  things have changed as the GC pie has grown larger with more vested shareholders interested in the product.

Seems like they changed that as we've moved to the revenue sharing model. Host team still gets the bulk of the profits but a portion is shared with other teams.

Ask the halftime show, it seems to be more of a group process. I imagine the company that is hired to put it on gathers potential acts and the league and host team work through the best options.

BC keeps upping the ante.  Doman willing to spend even more silly money to hype up the team.  Snoop will be the priciest one yet.

Not my fave, but I'll watch with interest, at least the few snippets TSN will show us.  I think this will be a popular one!

So, is it free Lions ticket with a Snoop Dogg concert ticket, or vice versa?

Both Herdmann-Reeds suspended by the Riders.  Wonder what's going on there?

Elks cut the 1st global pick in the 2025 draft ( Masin, a punter ) and he was picked up by the Stamps.

One game at a time.

WFC made $7M profit all last year I think?  Lions maybe half that?  You could easily blow $1-$2M bringing in Snoop for a show.  So BC maybe just blew half their profit on this?

Doman flexin' the wallet again.
