Winnipeg Blue Bombers add defensive back

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers today announce the club has signed American defensive back Rashaan Gaulden.

Gaulden (6-0, 200; Tennessee; born: January 23, 1995, in Spring Hill, TN) comes to the Blue Bombers after most recently being on the practice roster with the Calgary Stampeders in 2022. He was a third-round selection, 85th overall, by the Carolina Panthers in the 2018 NFL Draft and has 27 games of experience with the Panthers (2018-19), New York Giants (2019) and Las Vegas Raiders (2022).

He was signed by the Stampeders in late September of 2022 and was released a month later.

Gaulden played in 36 games over three seasons (2014, 2016-17) at Tennessee, missing the 2015 season due to a foot injury. He declared for the NFL Draft following his junior year. During his career with the Volunteers he had 140 total tackles, including 9.5 tackles for a loss, adding one interception, four forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries and 10 passes defended

On Sunday Alexander — a member of the 2019 and 2021 Grey Cup championship squads who played with the club from 2017-24 — announced his departure from the Blue Bombers with a post on Facebook after not being offered a contract from the club. He remains a Canadian Football League free agent.

If he's fit and ready to play, he can catch on elsewhere.  I am surprised Goveia or Pinball hasn't already signed him...

Winnipeg Blue Bombers sign defensive back Tay Gowan

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers signed defensive back Tay Gowan on Wednesday according to the CFL Transactions page.

Tay Gowan is six foot two and weighs 185 pounds. The 27-year-old from Covington, Georgia, re-signed with the Tennessee Titans on January 8, 2024. In 2024, he made four tackles (2 solos, 2 assists), and one pass breakup in three preseason games. The Titans released him on August 26, 2024.

The Arizona Cardinals drafted Gowan in the sixth round (223rd pick) of the 2021 NFL Draft. In 2021, he made seven tackles (5 solos, 2 assists), and one pass breakup in two preseason games. The Cardinals traded him to the Philadelphia Eagles on October 15, 2021. He made two tackles (1 solo, 1 assist) in two games. In 2022, he made seven tackles (5 solos, 2 assists), and two pass breakups in three preseason games. The Eagles released him on August 30, 2022.

The Minnesota Vikings signed Gowan on September 1, 2022. He played in three games recording no stats. In 2023, he made two tackles (2 solos) in two preseason games. The Vikings released him on September 7, 2023. The Tennessee Titans signed Gowan on October 9, 2023. He appeared in one game recording no stats.

Collegiately, Gowan played one season at Miami (OH) in 2017 making one tackle (1 assist) in three games for the Redhawks. Next, he transferred to Butler Community College in 2018 making 27 tackles (23 solos, 4 assists), two tackles for loss, six interceptions for 257 yards, one touchdown, and four pass breakups in 11 games for the Grizzlies. He was named First Team All-KJCCC and helped Butler win the Classic Bowl.

Then, he transferred to the University of Central Florida (2019-20) making 31 tackles (22 solos, 9 assists), one tackle for loss, two interceptions for 18 yards, eight pass breakups, and one fumble recovery in 12 games for the Knights. He opted out of the 2020 season due to COVID-19.

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers today announce the club has signed American defensive back Tay Gowan.

Gowan (6-2, 185; UCF; born: January 7, 1998, in Covington, GA) most recently spent last year's training camp with the Tennessee Titans, recording four tackles and one pass breakup in three preseason games. Originally drafted by Arizona in the 6th round of the 2021 NFL Draft, Gowan was traded to Philadelphia in October of that year, seeing action in two games with the Eagles. Gowan also played three games with the Vikings in 2022, and one game with the Titans in 2023.

He transferred to UCF for his final collegiate season in 2019-2020 season, making 31 tackles, one tackle for loss, two interceptions, eight pass breakups, and one fumble recovery in 12 games for the Knights. He opted out of the 2020 season.

Winnipeg Blue Bombers sign DL Marquise Lawson-Greenwood and LB Dreydon 'Dre' Hall

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers signed defensive lineman Marquise Lawson-Greenwood and linebacker Dreydon 'Dre' Hall on Tuesday according to the CFL Transactions page.

Marquise Lawson-Greenwood is six foot six and weighs 260 pounds. The 25-year-old from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, played for the Southwest Kansas Storm (AFL) in 2024 leading the league with 10 sacks in 9 games.

He signed with the Albany Firebirds (AF1) on October 28, 2024. The Arlington Renegades signed Lawson-Greenwood on December 5, 2024, and released him on March 20, 2025.

Collegiately, Lawson-Greenwood played one season at California (PA) University in 2019 playing left tackle in nine games for the Vulcans. Next, he transferred to San Bernardino Valley College in California in 2021 making 43 tackles (29 solos, 14 assists), 9.5 tackles for loss, one sack, and two fumble recoveries in 9 games for the Wolverines. He concluded his collegiate career at Lincoln (CA) University.

Dreydon 'Dre' Hall is six foot one and weighs 245 pounds. A native of Houston, Texas, Hall made 22 tackles (12 solos, 10 assists), seven tackles for loss, 6.5 sacks, and one forced fumble in 13 games for the Bisons.

Collegiately, Hall played four seasons at Harding University (2021-24) making 77 tackles (47 solos, 30 assists), 32.5 tackles for loss, 25 sacks, three pass breakups, six forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries in 49 games for the Bisons.

In 2023, he made 22 tackles (14 solos, 8 assists), 14 tackles for loss, 11.5 sacks, and three forced fumbles in 15 games helping the Bisons win the Division II championship over the Colorado School of Mines. He was named First Team All-GAC.

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers today announce the club has signed American defensive end Marquise Lawson-Greenwood and American linebacker Dreydon Hall.

Lawson-Greenwood (6-6, 260, Lincoln; born: April 1, 2000 in Philadelphia, PA) spent last year with the Southwest Kansas Storm (AFL), leading the league with 10 sacks in nine games. He transferred from California (PA) University to San Bernardino Valley College in 2021, recording 43 tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss, one sack, and two fumble recoveries in nine games for the Wolverines. He concluded his collegiate career at Lincoln.

Hall (6-1, 245, Harding; born: March 16, 2002 in Houston, TX) played four seasons at Harding University (2021-2024), recording 77 tackles, 32.5 tackles for loss, 25 sacks, three pass breakups, six forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries in 49 games.
