Bryant, the club's future Hall of Fame left tackle, told the media on Tuesday that he plans to play again next year. The native of Goldsboro, N.C., who was named All-CFL for the eighth time in his career this season, will turn 39 in May.

"I can't go out like that," he said. "This year was just very disappointing, I could say embarrassing how it happened. To get through all the adversity we went through this year — 0-4, 2-6, going on the road — and then getting back to the Grey Cup, and then the things that happened and how the score looked, I just feel like that's not something that I can settle with and not try to compete and get back to it and win it."

Streveler, Schoen, and Bighill, all of whom suffered torn ACLs this season, indicated they're planning to play in 2025.

"I'd love to be back here, I love it here," said Streveler, who is expecting a baby in January with his girlfriend, Taylor Anderson. "I think everyone knows how much I love this place. I love the culture, I love the guys in this locker room. I'd love to be back here."

Schoen is hoping to be back to 100 percent at least a month before training camp gets underway. He's optimistic that the injury won't hurt him too badly in free agency, saying that'll be "between the team or potential teams and my agent."

Bighill, who lives in Winnipeg year-round, wouldn't provide a firm timeline for his return but indicated he could be back sometime around May. He also said he hasn't given "too much thought into" exploring free agency because he's assuming he'll get a deal done to return for a seventh season with the Blue Bombers.

Neufeld
also said he has "full intentions" of being back in Winnipeg next season as a player, though he has yet to communicate that to head coach Mike O'Shea and general manager Kyle Walters.

Blue Bombers re-sign kicker Sergio Castillo
November 21, 2024

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers today announce the club has re-signed veteran kicker Sergio Castillo to a one-year contract.

He was scheduled to become a free agent in February of 2025.

Castillo (5-9, 197; West Texas A&M; born: November 1, 1990, in La Joya, TX) returns to the club after serving as the club's placekicker since 2023.

The 34-year-old is in his third stint with the Blue Bombers where he began his Canadian Football League career in 2015 and returning in 2021 via trade. He then signed in Edmonton in 2022 before rejoining the club in 2023 as a free agent.

THE CFL GAVE US ANOTHER SNEAK PEEK... at the nine team's negotiation lists with 10 players from each team's prospect group being unveiled on Friday. (
https://www.cfl.ca/2024/12/13/cfl-clubs-reveal-10-names-from-negotiation-lists-3/)

This is a critical component to every team's roster build and some of the players the Blue Bombers have had on this list in the past include current players Deatrick Nichols, Terrell Bonds, Michael Ayers, Kody Case and QB prospect Darren Grainger and, at one time, the team did have the CFL rights to QB Brock Purdy before he landed the starting gig with the San Francisco 49ers.

Here's a brief look at the 10 names on the Blue Bombers latest negotiation list reveal:

-Ian Book, QB, Notre Dame: Book has been on the team's list for a few years from his days with the Irish through his NFL journey that has taken him to New Orleans, Philadelphia, New England and, most recently, Kansas City. He was released by the Chiefs in late August.

-Haynes King QB, Georgia Tech: Made history in the Yellow Jackets epic 44-42 overtime loss to Georgia at the end of November by becoming the first player in FBS history to throw for 300 yards, rush for 100 yards and have three rushing TDs in a game against an AP Top 10 opponent.

King will be in action in the Birmingham Bowl on Friday, Dec. 27th, 2:30 p.m., against Vanderbilt.
