Kelly out 6 - 9 months with a broken ankle

Though the Kelly injury hurts, Argos can still do pretty well with just a competent game manager at QB, if that is what Arbuckle brings. They are good enough at defense and special teams to be in any game. We should remember that.

Doubtless that they bring in Scott for a brain picking session. I would if I was them.

The Argos have a much better Defence than the Riders, there won't be any easy TD's given up and they'll put much more pressure on Zach in the backfield.  Bombers likely have to win the game with a TD or two and a bunch of FG's.

I'm just looking at this bizarre injury to Chad Kelly. A few observations.

His leg is clearly broken. How is he not writhing in pain?

He gets up and tries to walk on the leg and fails. Again, where is the pain? Where is the shock? Where is the realization that he has a broken leg?

When he goes down after trying to walk on the leg he looks like he is trying to fix the leg as he tries to hold his leg together with his hands. Should he be doing that?

Where is the concern from his team mates? One of the lineman, Allen, let's out a cry of anguish but then gets up and just walks away leaving Kelly holding his leg on the ground.

Everyone else just mills around and some just casually walk away from him like nothing has happened. No one signals for any help from the sidelines for their fallen team mate. Very strange. I have never seen a team react to an injury like this.

Kelly is sitting on the ground looking around, alone, as if to say, um, I might need some help here. But no one seems to be paying any attention. Kelly looks bewildered. Where are the trainers? Where is the support?

Finally Dinwiddie comes out to see him.

I've never seen anything like this before.

I think everyone was in shock at what happened. Kelly was clearly in shock as if he wasn't he'd be screaming like crazy. His team let out a 'oh god no' yell, and right away you knew it was bad. All of his teammates were out on the field on one knee around him but were giving the paramedics space to do their thing and get him the attention they needed.

On paper, the Argos lost alot with this injury, but it can be a catalyst for the team to rally around it. Remember when Trent Green went down for the Rams and Coach Vermeil announced they will rally around Kurt Warner and play good football...I fully expect the same thing from the Argos, and to take them lightly will be a massive mistake. A bear is most dangerous when it is hurt.

The Argos are going to play a fantastic game, no doubt, but the Grey Cup is one where I don't think they'll have an intertia advantage like that.

For one, the Bombers will be strapped in from snap one. And additionally, with a backup you sometimes aren't sure what you're going to get. How fortunate are we that we have a full game tape of Arbuckle going against our defense from this season? Talk about a good scheduling break.

My only reservation is this could give Dinwiddie a chance to exorcise his GC-loss demons, winning vicariously through Arbuckle.  He may be rabid trying to win this because if he loses again it may bring back all the PTSD from his GC loss that he has spent all this time putting behind him.  This could mentally break the man.

Yes, Arbuckle has starts.  Yes, he's won games.  But what's his record ex-CGY?  Pretty bad.  Bad enough to barely be employed in 2024.  He never looked good after leaving CGY.  Him Franklin & Jennings only looked good because of the team they were on.  When they left the good team, they revealed their suckage.

Arbuckle starting the GC is as bad as Dolegala starting for us would be.

There's a reason we opened 10.5 point favorites in betting markets.  10.5!  It'll be hard to make any money betting on WPG this week.

Great.  TOR does this every single year they think they'll have a shot at being in a cup against WPG.  Steal a nobody late in the season to get the book.

Luckily for us our O has changed a lot since the trade deadline.  I don't think our O looks anything like it did.

However, if we had any tricks in reserve that we hadn't deployed (on film) yet, better trash those and come up with new ones.  Scott will spill the beans.

I know many of you refuse to believe "it works that way", but it's not just coincidence TOR has picked up a WPG player at the last second in each of '22, '23, '24.  And then they dump those guys instantly in FA.  Nothing to see here!

I've had serious injuries before and my reaction was similar. The pain is nothing when you immediately realize what a living hell your life will become for the next couple of months (driving, going up stairs, skipping leg day). But I'll scream like a little girl if I get a cramp in my toe lol
