Campbell stays.
Rourke takes a pay cut to stay in BC.
VAJ to Calgary making them instantly dangerous again.
BC makes minor changes and stays in the top 3 in the west.
Winnipeg Blue Bombers - 2019 Grey Cup Champs.

If I'm Edmonton, I'm all in on VAJ as well, as whoever gets him becomes instantly better.

BC will suck next year with Rourke and that's awesome. Nothing will be better than watching that arrogant primadona stink the joint out.

GOLDMEMBER

Keeping Campbell around is a mistake. He has proven to make very strange and questionable in game decisions and he is not great at getting players to play hard for him. If I am the owner I move on.

I think getting Rourke to take a significant pay cut is a smart move. However, he's under no obligation to accept. What that might mean in the longer term is all a TBD. I can't see any team trading for that contract and giving up players or draft choices as well. Sticky situation as well.

His deal and increases to other Lions about to become free agents is going to be an SMS cap nightmare. Their potential free agent list will be interesting. Even some not approaching free agency will not be with the team in 2025 IMO.

If he DOES NOT TAKE A CUT, then try to trade him away and keep VA. This will all be known prior to free agency day.

Unabashed positron.  Blue koolaid in my fridge.  I wear my blue sunglasses at night.  Homer, d'oh.

OK, so I didn't watch the game (playing poker) and I'm not really interested in watching it knowing the result (its not a Bombers game).

Please fill me in.

Who on the Riders was injured?  I saw Sayles getting attention, but other than that...

Never.  We don't have any money.  And for what purpose?  What would Ford do while Zach is #1?  He's too tiny to be SY.

We paid Strevy $110k.  Ford will get at least $200k, even as "only" a #2.

We'll re-sign Strevy or Prukop before we even think about Ford.  Personally I think we're happy with Wilson for SY/dev.

You could read this GDT from page 1!  It's pretty exhaustive as to what happened.

The big injury for SSK is LT Reid with a blown out knee from a roll-up.  I think he's done for the year.  I'm not sure SSK has any legit OTs left: they've lost quite a few OL this season.

DE Cox left and I'm not sure he came back.  I thought at the time it looked like he might be done for the year.  50/50.

KSB got mega-whacked and might have issues this week.  Armstead didn't play the 2nd H (we think).  Oullette looked banged up -- as he always does.

SSK paid a dear price for not winning the W (reg season).

I guess it stills rings true: BC sucks.

I don't really expect Ford to come here, but the scenario in which it happens is easy figure out. He hits FA and no one wants to sign him as starter, so he has to pick the spot where he sees the best opportunity to get starts.

At that point I expect him to enter a situation that has questionable QB room, but he may look at Winnipeg and see a QB about to retire who has missed some time in recent years. Not to mention that everyone is saying he needs a quality mentor before he gets the gig for real.
My wife is amazing!

I don't understand why BC is set on letting VAJ go to FA and keep the over paid underperforming spoiled brat, just because he comes from the area. Big deal. I'd keep VAJ, try and renegotiate NR contract, and if he doesn't want to renegotiate/take ownership for his poor performance, when VAJ came in and clearly made a difference, then I'd cut him and he can go elsewhere, maybe a change of scenery and a kick in the pants is what he needs to bring him back to reality. If BC keeps Rourke over VAJ, and VAJ goes onto say Calgary, and they turn it around, which they will with him and Rourke struggles, all that's going to do is cost Campbell his job as well. Between the failed Mike Reilly experiment and the recent NR debackle, the Lions have made very poor Qb and contract decisions.

I'm not sure Rourke will be any better in '25, but at least you have the hope of him finally finding his mojo and being able to win the playoffs.  VAJ is a known quantity, and that quantity is he won't get you to the cup.

Yep, VA is a known quantity, always an emotional basket case.

I thought VAJ handled it was well as could be expected, I know I would have been pissed. You have the team in first place, you get hurt and they pay this immature kid a ton of money, give him your roster spot and you watch game after game him losing games, and then you come in and light it up. The Lions lost, but heck, it wasn't his fault, his defense could have played better and made a few more plays to make the game close.

I ve never been a big fan of his, but I really hope he lands on his feet--likely in Calgary, and does well next year, and BC rots with rourke, absolutely rots.

Wouldn't want him on my team, he's too weak, says a lot of things that should not be said, which just adds to the dissension building up in the BC locker room.  If Vern wants to be the leader of a football team, he needs to demonstrate he can win big games when it counts and maintain an even keel win or lose, that's what leaders do.
