Receiver Cameron Echols returns for Stampeders vs. Ticats
By 3Down Staff -October 17, 2024

Rookie receiver Cameron Echols will be back in action for the Calgary Stampeders on Friday, two weeks after suffering a scary head injury against the B.C. Lions.

The 29-year-old had to be taken to hospital for evaluation after he sustained a substantial blow along the sideline while returning a kickoff in the fourth quarter. Echols appeared to be unconscious on the field and had to be carted off with assistance.

Prior to the injury, Echols had played in 10 games for the Stampeders and recorded 27 catches for 335 yards and three touchdowns. Canadian pass catcher Cole Tucker (hamstring) will sit out this week, accommodating his teammate's return.

Running back and returner Peyton Logan will not play this week. The 25-year-old has carried the ball 57 times for 335 yards and a touchdown in a rotational capacity while catching 23 passes for 121 yards in 13 games. He has also returned 31 punts for 448 yards and a major, along with 26 kickoff returns for 559 yards.

American defensive tackle Jaylon Hutchings will make his first career start after being signed less than two weeks ago, while veteran Canadian defensive back Nick Statz will return to the lineup. Linebacker Darius Williams (wrist) will sit out.

The Calgary Stampeders (4-11-1) will visit the Hamilton Tiger-Cats (6-10) on Friday, October 18 at 7:00 p.m. EDT.

Rookie RB Greg Bell returns for Ticats vs. Stamps
By 3Down Staff -October 17, 2024

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats are getting one of the CFL's most exciting young playmakers back in the rotation this week.

Rookie running back Greg Bell is slated to return to the lineup after missing the last game with a rib injury. In six appearances, the 26-year-old has carried 68 times for 399 yards and five touchdowns. He has also caught 25 passes for 208 yards through the air and another score.

As a result, veteran James Butler will go back to being a healthy scratch. In 11 games this season, the two-time thousand-yard rusher has notched 110 carries for 522 yards and two touchdowns, while also catching 45 passes for 372 yards and another score.

Defensively, the Ticats will be without one of the game's best cornerbacks, Jamal Peters (neck). In 14 games this year, the lockdown man has collected 38 defensive tackles, three special teams tackles, and four interceptions. Jonathan Moxey will take over at boundary corner, while Carthell Flowers-Lloyd gets the nod at strong-side linebacker.

Returning to the lineup will be defensive end Nick Usher, who has notched 30 defensive tackles, three sacks, and a forced fumble in 15 games. Linebacker D.Q. Thomas will also step in with Kyle Wilson active but nursing an Achilles injury.

Defensive linemen Tim Ward and Deionte Knight have been returned to the practice roster, while Canadian Evan Johnson will dress as a seventh offensive lineman.

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats (6-10) will host the Calgary Stampeders (4-11-1) on Friday, September 18 at 7:00 p.m. EDT.

Praying CGY finds their mojo and blows HAM away and looks like a GC contender!  Then they cream SSK at home after the bye!!

One can dream... and this is the CFL!

Cuz a Rider loss is always a good thing.   ;D
Go Bombers!

CGY INT is going to hurt them.  There's the problem with the dink & dunk.  Often you eventually get a kerplunk.

They were on a good drive there, too.  Hard running will help them.

Nice shank, Grace.  Give HAM another 7.
Never go full Rider!

Bo...... what's happening?

threading the needle.

Calgary is embarrassing themselves. Hufnagel with his head in his hands. What a collapse of a once-great, proud organisation.
Go Bombers!

BLM is loving sticking it to his former club. I wonder if this is going to get ugly soon.

Too late.

Calgary playing like a team with no pride just wishing the season would end. How can you keep a coach whose team plays like that (in any capacity)

LOL! I mean is it going to devolve into chippiness and nastiness, maybe some major fouls. It's a 4 TD lead now and Hammy is still pressing. Someone on the Stamp side is going to snap soon I fear.

I was thinking the same thing. This team has quit on Dickie now and Huffer knows it. I can see Dickie moving upstairs permanently and a new HC brought in next season.
