Wow, Montreal almost let the clock run out.

Go Bombers!

Go Bombers!

Pete

the execution in the last minutes and overtime by both teams was terrible

Sir Blue and Gold

Pretty bad. Both teams should have to split a single point due to how awful they were: .5 points each.

What a yawner of a game. How does the best team 8n the league even come close to tying the worst team?? Anything can happen when you only score 13 pts. Booooring.

For those complaining about the rtk call on the blocked punt, perhaps if you played the game and had your ankle broken by such a play, maybe then you'd appreciate why they changed the rule. Miles comments made me sick on this. It's player safety dumb dumbs. You can't contact the kicker period! He's totally defenseless when he's kicking.

Thank you for this post. You said it much better than I could have. May I add that the comment that was made that this new rule makes it impossible to ever block a kick is complete nonsense. All that is required is for the player attempting the block to take a line to the ball that doesn't go through the kicker's plant leg. It's not rocket science. Simply come at the ball at an angle instead of straight on. Does it make it harder? Perhaps, almost certainly it does, but it is completely possible.

When are people going to understand that the players are the game and that their safety is of paramount importance, especially when they are completely vulnerable, as you've stated, when they are throwing and/or kicking the ball. This shouldn't be hard for anyone to understand. As frustrated as I am with them at times I'm happy that the officials got this call right.

CGY attacking the mid-center area because no Dequoy.  I can see them attacking that area all night.

Not only is there no Dequoy there, but you keep the ball far away from Ento.

The new RTK rule has been in place for like 5 years now.  It's incredible fans are still being surprised by it.

MOS was pivotal in getting it passed.  MOS is big on player safety, especially "defenseless" players like LS (the Rempel Rule) and P/K.

You shouldn't have license to cripple a P/K just because you got through cleanly.  Such hits can have an effect like what just happened to Strevie.

It doesn't matter that he didn't get crippled (luckily he was in the air), what matters is it could happen.

Note: the new rule has always said you can still hit the P/K if you get a piece of the ball: you just can't hit the plant leg while planted.

Guys rushing the kicker need to pre-plan their angle and take P forward motion into account when picking their diving point.  Gretzky would probably say: don't jump at where the P is, jump to where he will be when you get there.

I'm fine with the rule, and we should all be used to it by now.  This disappointing part of this today is that the on-field refs don't know the rule and 2 guys staring straight at his leg didn't flag it!!

Shambles of a game, but strangely exciting in the 4th.

A half point means the season series we worked hard for vs CGY and SSK now is irrelevant.  No end-of-season tie by us with them possible (well, unless the impossible happens).  However, the outright wins still count and will help.

Ds have figured out MTL/Cody's go-to play when they need 5Y is to throw it 30.  We need to remember that for this upcoming GC...

And Houston my man, you couldn't have made a stop like that in the EZ in the last GC?  Sheesh.  Save it for this nothing of a game why dontcha!

Maier looking a lot better.  I guess facing the loss of your career as a #1 will do that to you.

As for facing CGY: all you have to do is cover Begelton and stop the run.  They literally have nothing else!  Man that Begelton is good.  Now imagine CGY without him... yikes.

I was wondering if Calgary had just showed us the blueprint to beating the Als. Held them to 13 points and the Als had no excuses -- they were playing arguably the worse team in the league, had their #1 QB healthy and playing, had McInnis and the rest of their receivers in the game except for Philpot, and still couldn't beat Calgary. The Als had just lost to BC last week, a team that looked terrible against the Argos this week. The invincibility lustre has come off the Als.

Very bizarre to have two CFL games finish in a tie in the same season.

I was very impressed with the play of the Argos this week. The Als have looked ordinary the last couple weeks.I am sure the Als feel the Argos breathing down their neck. Kelly after missing the first half of the season looked much better this week. Look out!

My idea of making them work a ten yard longer field in OT likely would have produced a Mtl win. (posted in other thread after Ssk - Ott tie)

Cgy kicks made: 42, 42.
Mtl kicks made: 30, 37

So add ten to those. Possibly Cgy would not have tried a 52 yarder into the wind and might have gone 3 down football.

I think we will see more teams play for the tie just because the field goal is a given. At least they should have to make a first down if they want the safe points.
