Quote from: TecnoGenius on August 31, 2024, 11:08:12 PMThat's the other tell.  I've never once heard of a player with flu/vid/cold or heat stroke going on the 6GIR.  It's simply not a thing.  Even with the Mafia "put everyone on the 6G mantra", it's still not a thing.

I truly believe you're tin foil hating this one. I think he'll be good to go next week.

Could be!  Hope you're right!  But answer the question... when in 10 years have you see a flu get 6G'd.  And when do you put this sad OL line-up in for a critical divisional game for the coveted #1 in the W?  The OL on the chart is a guaranteed-lose OL against a stout SSK D in front of rabid green fans on LD.

Literally the only thing left given all the above is the tinfoil.

I think WFC is trying to break it to us reeeeeaaaal slowly that Big Stan is gone for 6+ weeks (or forever).  Maybe after they sign a solution at LT.  KW phone goes brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr(ing).

And I really hope you're wrong. But MOS never tells us anything and was actually pretty open about Stan being sick and having heat exhaustion for the sole reason that he knew people were scared.

He puked on the field in the heat after being sick all weak. He's a big guy and they certainly don't want a repeat so are proceeding with caution. And everyone is being putting on the 6 game. Bighill just spent one game there, why would it be any different for Stan?

Was there not an article out this past week that the BOMBERS Will put almost anyone on the 6 game IR automatically even if they don't sit out the full 6 games? It means zip in the end as you can pull as many players off the 6 game IR as you want. They had a limit some years ago of how many players you could pull off the 6 game IR per half season, but that went out the window a few years ago.

If somehow the injury nags on, you have them already on the 6 game as short as possible then and get cap room if they stay out the full 6 games.

If Stanley isn't back next week then the panic can get legitimate.

Everything you say is true.  But I counter with: how many of the "everyone" we've placed on the 6G this season was due to "illness".  None.  They all had "physical" injuries.

In fact, I'm not sure any team has ever placed any player on the 6G marked as "illness".

If we had another illness force a starter to miss a game, we probably would have.

Yes there seems to be a new rule about using the 6-game IR as one-size-fits-all....or they're just using it a different way, no idea.

They are three words that mean everything to football fans in these parts, words that represent the passion of two rabid fan bases and the annually the absolute best of the Canadian Football League:

Labour. Day. Classic.

Now, couple that with this being a Week 13 battle for first place in the West Division and, well, it's little wonder this one and the sequel next week in Winnipeg in the Banjo Bowl will be played before sold-out audiences.

"A game like this, it already is a big game every single year," running back Brady Oliveira told bluebombers.com this week. "Everyone always has this one circled on their calendar. It's always back-to-back big games, no matter what the standings look like. We go there for the Labour Day Classic and then we're all on a short week when they come here for the Banjo Bowl next Saturday.

"Two massive games that everyone looks forward to. It's a great Prairie battle, a great Prairie rivalry. Two great fan bases going at it. There's a magnitude to it even if the standings don't matter. So to have it for first makes it that much bigger."

The Blue Bombers, 5-6, are on a mini-heater, having won three straight and going 5-2 after a horrific 0-4 start. The Roughriders, meanwhile, are 5-5-1 and winless in their last five at 0-4-1 — their last victory a 19-9 decision over Winnipeg in Regina on July 19th.

Winnipeg simply made too many mistakes in that meeting, including a Zach Collaros interception inside the Rider 25-yard line, a Nic Demski fumble after a 50-yard reception to Saskatchewan's 15-yard line inside the final three minutes with the Blue Bombers trailing by a TD and then a turnover on downs on the last possession.

"You look back at that last game... We were so close," said Oliveira. "There were so many mistakes that we made, so many self-inflicted mistakes and if a couple plays go differently we win that ball game. We lost that game.

"Since then we're on a trajectory we want to go in with winning these games and putting a streak together. This is our team now. We're a younger team that needed to mature and every single week we've been maturing and we're in a good spot right now.

"We've still got a lot of work to do, but I like where we're at...."

Anyone know who is calling the game?

Hoping Suitor is still in Victoria...

Don't wish that on Victoria - I travel there monthly on business and I would not wish that on such a great city to visit! ;D

Sir Blue and Gold

Don't have a good feeling about this one. I don't bet but if I did I'd be taking whatever spread they are giving the Riders.

Yah.  I would say all the evidence points to a rider win..missing Bryant is a huge factor and the Bomber offence has largely been inconsistent.

Even if the Bombers lose, and lose big it doesn't mean the season is over and coaches need to be fired and start rebuilding, it's a strange game this LDC.  Honestly I just don't want more injuries - especially to a guy like Zach or BO

J5V

We can very definitely win this game if we don't get screwed out of it by the officials, limit mistakes, win the turnover battle, and have good production on offense. If we continue to struggle on offense it's going to make for a bad day.
Go Bombers!

Blue In BC

Win and we're in 1st place. Lose and we're in 3rd place.

The entire season can be turned around today.

Just win. Do it in a big way.
Take no prisoners
