Quote from: Jesse on August 13, 2024, 07:12:34 PMCampbell has already admitted that it's likely going to be Rourke. His first practice will be tomorrow.

Rick Campbell to Global News: "Knowing Nathan Rourke, I think he'll be playing Sunday."

Stated once again that VA will remain a big part of the team and the club wants to make 2024 the best that it can be. Future bridges will be crossed when it's over.

Nice of Campbell to tell us but we would have prepared for Rourke anyway. Bring it on!
Go Bombers!

My predication is that we will feast, Hall knows how to beat Rourke

this makes no sense. last game whitehead not only made plays but opened up things for other receivers. We saw what speed does against  BC in the elks game with Leake. Once again this is O'Shea having a mancrush on a player (Johnson)
99% of the fans feel that Johnson isn't the answer, but I guess O'Shea has to show he's smarter than everyone.

That's a bit surprising. OTOH, Johnson has been on the roster and in camp much longer.

Lawler will be another speed guy and will stretch the defence for other receivers.

Interesting decision from the Bombers if that's true. Which is it then:

1) The Bombers think Johnson is better straight up than Lucky Whitehead (I find that a little hard to believe).
2) The Bombers are thinking longer term and believe playing Johnson this year is important for his development.

On point 2,
Except that we are currently in a nonplayoff spot, and based on what I've seen Johnson hasn't shown much potential. Its unlikely he would make our roster even next year

That was just spectulation on Brown's part.

Case is the odd man out as he's been moved to the practice roster. Looks like Lucky will be returning kicks.

Adams has also been moved to the practice roster to make room for Haba.

I think the opposite. He has a ton of potential. He just hasn't realized much of it yet. The Bombers obviously are betting he will.

All of that makes sense.

Whitehead as the fulltime returner? Most of his work has been on K/O's not punt returns IIRC. He does have speed but we'll see how that goes.

Sorry to see Adams getting bumped but something had to happen in order to get him on the AR.

In theory that means Ayers won't be moved to IR this week and we have that depth at LB. He's quite good on ST's.

I would have thought preferred Johnson to be bumped instead of Case. That said, with Lawler back that may open him up more and he may be more effective. I thought he hasn't played that badly but he's no Lawler or Schoen.

It does make more sense, I should know by now that early speculation is just that
But to be honest I still don't get Johnson in the lineup

I hope that Lawler is so hungry that he just feasts on BC's D-backs. They are likely to double cover him so the rest of the guys better be ready.

Lions had some injuries on defence in their last game. A couple in their secondary that may be limited if they can play at all.

Regardless I think we win this game whether Rourke plays or not. At best he's going to be rusty. Wider CFL field will take adjusting to for a few games. He has the arm strength but timing and extra width may hurt him in a short week.
