Quote from: The Zipp on August 17, 2024, 09:45:51 PMYah - barring injury to Rourke this will be his "weakest" game as he hasn't read a CFl defence at game speed for a while.  We have tape on him so we should know what he is going to do...scramble when needed and deliver a very accurate ball (unless the NFL has spoiled him somehow).  He is susceptible to pressure like any qb.

What I don't know is if the Lions o-line is better or worse than when Rourke was here last.
Or if he never "fully" recovered from his injury.
I LOSHT MY MEMBER IN AN UNFORTUNATE SHMELTING ACCSHIDENT!

Rourke will get better week to week and will be an outstanding CFL QB. He may even do some really good things tomorrow.

It's just that he's essentially on page one. Two of the Lions best receivers didn't even practice until the last day. We all know one slight miscommunication can lead to an int, knockdown or a receiver just an not making a reception.

From all the press coverage it certainly seems like Rourke is the greatest quarterback that ever lived! Maybe the Bombers should just stay home and surrender this one.

Quote from: pdirks67 on August 17, 2024, 05:02:26 PMThe chemistry has got to be a bit stale, I'm sure. But Hatcher, Hollins, and Cottoy were all there in 2022.

Thanks for that.  So the "2 H's" were here with him before.  It's Rhymes & Burnham that are gone.  The H's may still have chemistry with him.  Bummer.

On the bright side, Hollins has been near useless for many weeks.  Hatcher still hasn't gotten up to speed.  McInnis is probably still the main threat.

Great question.  From pdirks's depth chart we can compare:

2022 Figueroa Broxton Goodber Chungh Perkins
2024 Broxton Packer Couture Chungh Perkins

I think it's a wash or 2024 is slightly better.  Couture is better but Packer might be weaker.  What do you think?

As in 2022, BC only dresses 1 extra OL.  Most of their (somewhat rare) jumbo sets are done with FB/TE.  If they have a single OL injury they might be in for some trouble.

Crush them tomorrow and take the season series. Maybe don't have to see BC or Mr. Rourke from Fantasy Island until the playoffs in the Bombers barn! :) That is where his last CFL season ended in 2022 in the Bombers barn in the CFL West final.

Kenny sliding into the slot instead of out at WR is the smart move, IMHO.  Boundary slot will make him the #1 target.  Hope we get creative, and hope we don't give him any injury-inducing crossers in traffic.

Pokey can go for the TD home runs from the wide spot... he's proven he can do the circus diving Dressler catches.

Zach might not even have to look to the field side the entire game!  :D  :D  :D

Game Preview: Winnipeg at BC

...(Kenny) Lawler, the game-breaking star receiver, and (Celestin) Haba, an emerging force at end, are back Sunday to bolster the lineup.

"I worked really hard coming into the season to come in here and kill it," Lawler said. "Having the arm injury set me back but with where we are in the season now it's more than ever about whatever the team needs from me.

"I'm not worried about accolades, I'm not worried about statistics. It really is about going 1-0 and giving the guys whatever they need. That's all that really matters. And when we're kicking *** all that other stuff comes with it. You've got to let those things coming to you. I just know when I'm on the field, the plays are going to come..."

Is Trevor Kennerd still around?! :D  Was there not some returner they called "Itty Bitty" some years ago on another team?! :D

The brain still functions! :D ....found this on a google search: Ezra Landry, nicknamed "itty bitty" due to his five-foot-four-inch stature...played for the Als in the 2000's.

BOSS...DA PLANE DA PLANE!! :D The Man with the Golden Gun has come to Fantasy Island! ;)

Even more funnier is the SCTV spoof of Fantasy Island with John Candy as PATOO! ;) Eugene Levy as Mr. Roarke....FINE CORRINTHIAN LEATHER! :D WHEN YOU DRIVE A CORDOBA! ;) Youngins would have no clue what I'm talking about, but those are exaggerations on some Cordoba car commercials Ricardo Montalban did in the late 70's, early 80's! :)  Probably more famously known as KHAN in the Star Trek original series and Star Trek II movie. Star Trek II-The Wrath of Khan arguably the best Star Trek movie ever made! :) Similar to Star Wars-The Empire Strikes Back being the best Star Wars movie ever...notice a pattern...second movie of these classic series! ;) Ricardo also did some latter Planet of the Apes original movie series too. Former Elks QB Taylor Cornelius missing his calling not promoting these new POA movies!! :D

Wow that was some serious Virginia Woolf "stream-of-consciousness" going there Ichabod.

And I followed it all the way through.

I guess that makes me old...

Quote from: Blue In BC on August 17, 2024, 09:28:12 PMBig difference. Masoli has been with the Redblacks and knows their playbook inside and out. He's didn't have to re learn it in a week.

He's been in meetings and helping Brown from the sidelines with play calls and tutoring.
Rourke hasn't been in meetings, but he knows that offence, because it's the same one he played in before.

Still not close to the same thing. The timing issue between a QB and his receivers takes more than 3 practices. Two of those receivers didn't even practice until the 3rd day. Different OL configuration, different RB as well. OC develops the game plan as time goes by. What they call, when they call it, is different.

We saw how rusty many teams were to start the season after so many vets didn't play much in pre season.

Rourke is and will be a very good QB. To think he can just step onto the field after nearly 2 years and have everything run smoothly is a lot to expect. He may make 30+ pass attempts today. When was the last time he did that in a live game?
