I agree and being a Sunday game, we're going to know the results of the other games this weekend. This game may be huge to more teams than just BC and Wpg. No other team in the West want to see Winnipeg get on a roll now that they're finally starting to get healthy. Calgary for example could very well lose their playoff seed and be on the outside looking in. It's possible that with a Bomber win we'll be just 2 points back of BC and 3 points back of the Riders for first and trending in the right direction.
Go Bombers!

Quote from: J5V on August 16, 2024, 11:03:21 PMInteresting. BC sure looks like it has called all hands on deck for this one. I expect them to be a very intense, motivated bunch for this home game. They have every intention of winning this game and no intention of losing it. We are going to have to be extremely sharp and ready for this game or we'll get mowed down. The Bombers are going to have to match BC's intensity from the opening kickoff and stay sharp until the end of the game. We need 60 minutes of Bomber, smash mouth, bully ball if we're to take this game. Our season may depend on it.

We need this game to make the playoffs.  BC needs this game to secure the #1-in-West.  Different goals, equal intensity.

I think BC realizes now that the last reg season game in '23 really was the cup, even though they swore otherwise.  They simply cannot play in the cold.  They need that home WDF spot.  I wouldn't be surprised if they put months of effort into coming up with a killer gameplan for this Sunday.

Quote from: Blue In BC on August 16, 2024, 11:41:19 PMHowever two top receivers only having 1 day with Rourke is bound to lead to errors. Timing between them won't be up to speed for several weeks.

How many of BC's current receivers were on that BC roster in '22 with Rourke?  A couple?  Cottoy?  There's little residual "freebie" chemistry to tap into.

I agree with you 100% but I was thinking today that where I absolutely do not want to be playing the WDF is in Regina. It is so hard to get a fair shake in that place.

The chemistry has got to be a bit stale, I'm sure. But Hatcher, Hollins, and Cottoy were all there in 2022.

I don't think Rourke will be as rusty as some hope. See Masoli. Rourke has been in NFL camps, coming in 100% healthy as far as I know. He'll make the passes he can and run otherwise.

Big difference. Masoli has been with the Redblacks and knows their playbook inside and out. He's didn't have to re learn it in a week.

He's been in meetings and helping Brown from the sidelines with play calls and tutoring.

yup no question Masoli has a massive advantage. No comparison really.

Yah - barring injury to Rourke this will be his "weakest" game as he hasn't read a CFl defence at game speed for a while.  We have tape on him so we should know what he is going to do...scramble when needed and deliver a very accurate ball (unless the NFL has spoiled him somehow).  He is susceptible to pressure like any qb.

What I don't know is if the Lions o-line is better or worse than when Rourke was here last.

Maybe he's not personally rusty, but he's not going to be familiar with the play book or be in sync with his teammates. He hasn't been watching CFL film to know what the defences are doing.

He's just going to be a little out of touch. It's an extra layer of difficulty he'll have to fight through.

Or if he never "fully" recovered from his injury.

Rourke will get better week to week and will be an outstanding CFL QB. He may even do some really good things tomorrow.

It's just that he's essentially on page one. Two of the Lions best receivers didn't even practice until the last day. We all know one slight miscommunication can lead to an int, knockdown or a receiver just an not making a reception.

From all the press coverage it certainly seems like Rourke is the greatest quarterback that ever lived! Maybe the Bombers should just stay home and surrender this one.
