Also where was Sergio? Not at practice. Sheahan did a few field goals, poorly I might add. We know his limit now is 35 and trajectory just seemed too low. Didn't seem to take it seriously, clowning after a miss. Strev was the holder.

Bye week really seems to have helped Brandon Alexander, he ran better than I have seen all year. Jefferson seemed better too. Overall we are getting healthy at the right time. The secondary had picks and knockdowns galore.

Quote from: Blue In BC on August 14, 2024, 05:20:42 PMSo he was earning about $25K more than on an ELC as his base salary. With 9 games left the Lions save about $10K for the balance of the season. Not a lot but the signing bonus was already a hit to the SMS cap.

At least he gets a chance to sign elsewhere if a team needs another QB with a little experience. Lots of QB injuries this season with no clear answer on how long a few will be gone ( Brown and Ford to name a couple ).

As I see the numbers:

   110,800 - Salary
-    15,000 - Bonus (Already Paid)
=   95,800
1/2 of the season's gone, so they'll save 1/2 * $95,800 or $47,900 for the rest of the year.

He won't be replaced by anyone other than Rourke, so the amount over the ELC doesn't mean anything.

Man, how would you feel if you're VA jr? On top of the world one minute after lighting it up and leading your team to first place in the West, then you get injured and the backup, Dolegala gets your reps, then you find out the club has gone out and signed a superstar QB and suddenly you're the backup.

Maybe VA isn't like this but me? I'd be pissed! I'd be demanding a trade.
Go Bombers!

He's a proven starting QB who arguably is one of the best in the league. Can't imagine he would settle for a #2 job indefinitely. If he doesn't ask for a trade I'd be shocked.

V.A. may have led teams towards first place but he's never maintained it or accomplished the goal.  I see 2 maybe 3 teams having an interest in him as a starter, he's highly skilled but in the end he's more flash than substance.

How would you feel if your Dolegala, he was the backup, thrust into the #1 job while Adams was hurt, and now he's cut!! Cold business...

They cut him instead of their # 3 QB that would have been on an ELC. So that's where the savings come from. Obviously the cost for their QB group has gone up.

It's early but the Lions have a bunch of injuries from their last game. Some may not be able to play this week.

They're still saving $47,900.

Yes and even with Rourke losing Hollins is going to hurt. That's like us losing Lawler.

I thought I saw that Keric Wheatfall was back at full practice. Does anyone know if he is also back? If he is, this receiving corps is starting to look very nasty with Lawler, Demski, Wilson, Wheatfall, Clercius, Johnson, Whitehead, etc. I bet Zach likes it!
