Quote from: Sir Blue and Gold on August 02, 2024, 02:17:22 PMBeg to differ on that. I assume you mean it was screening/face guarding. But it wasn't really. You can be in a chase position and run with one hand in the air the entire way down the field if you want. You do not need to turn around and face the ball when it makes contact. Ford knows the rules.

I agree. Screening happens when the DB is face to face with the receiver not when he's in chase position. Unless Ford put his hand on the receiver and / or slowed his momentum then no PI involved.

Ford continues to improve every game.

The game was the best beat down this season. Bombers had a few of those last year. 51- 6 against the Riders was a good one.

I agree I did not have the Bombers winning this game and I was wrong. It was a total beat down. BUT and Yes BUT - enjoy the win and now let's focus on the break and the next  games. We have a very big hole to dig out of and we shall see what happens. Hope does spring eternal  and the CFL season is a marathon not a sprint. Getting some folks back from injury will help.

I don't think anyone expected our best game of the season to be on a short week before a bye on one day of practice. Football is so fun!

Yes but what happened was not screening/faceguarding. Your edgy hot take machine is not calibrated correctly on this one. Ford, from a trailing position ran with one hand in the air behind the defender. That is not a penalty at any level of football.

No, you can't run down the field with your hands in the air in the chase position.  IF he'd looked back at the ball, then it wouldn't be screening, but he didn't therefore it is.

Lets agree to disagree and move on.

Great game especially by the defence dontcha think.

I won't "move on" if you're wrong. You are NOT required to look back at the ball.

Quote from: Pigskin on August 01, 2024, 03:53:10 PMCan we hold onto the ball tonight? How will our OL perform tonight? Can our front 7 get pressure on Adams?

Well we did an excellent job at holding onto the ball last night.

Our D made BCs OL look pretty average. 4 sacks and pressure all night.

Our OL was pretty solid. I also think Buck had a pretty game plan for BCs pressure.

Yeah, you really do have to move on at some point. No one wants to read two posters repeating the same thing over and over.

Would you have called PI on Ford's breakup?

That was a beat down, my memory is poor

Nope.

But "face-screening" is one of those really ambiguous things that you two are looking at from opposite sides and are never to agree.

So no, I don't want to read 20 posts of "yes it was" and "No it wasn't".

Live at PAS it looked okay. Haven't done my Bombers in 30 highlights yet.

Screening is when a player puts his hands up and obstructs the recievers vision on the ball. It is not called when the defender has turned and is making a play on the ball. It is called every time, when he is running with his back to the ball (he has no idea where the ball is) with his hands in the air obstructing the recievers position
