Throw Long Bannatyne

Quote from: Blue In BC on July 04, 2024, 04:52:40 PMTime for Streveler to show he can be a decent passer. I don't expect him to throw for 350 yards but making few errors and playing a good game could be enough to win. I'm not yet that impressed with the Redblacks and we need to win this game.

Oliveria needs to get 100+ yards to help win LOS, TOP and field position.

Strev. has such an unusual throwing style it's hard to predict if he can be successful or not, it looks like he does everything in a rush as he goes from a dead standstill to firing off a pass or into a full out sprint  It's a bit hard to digest.

Quote from: ModAdmin on July 04, 2024, 05:45:31 AMThe good news is...
- Brady Oliviera as well,

I think a healthy, game ready Brady will be the difference in this game.  He'll be ultra motivated and will run all over this Ottawa defense.  And we'll win.  Hopefully.

Looks like no changes to the D this week. Like it.  I am hearing AB4 did a lot of extra running again this week. A health AB4 can only make our D better.

I wouldn't mind Chris-Ike getting a couple of touches. Kid has excellent size and very good speed.
Don't go through life looking in the rearview mirror.

From Jeff Hamilton:
Zach Collaros will not be dressed for Friday's game vs. Ottawa. Teams need to "dress" three QBs, so he's on the depth chart.

Saving SMS! Also pretty much guarantees it's a short term injury, so that's good.

I have to say - Ottawa's roster management looks pretty good. We're starting 10 Canadians and are not making use of the designated National/American rules, seemingly because it wounds O'Shea's pride. Meanwhile, Ottawa's got Wakefield coming in for a Global for half the game and are starting 7 Canadians.

I'm a huge O'Shea fan but you need to adapt or you get left behind. The margin between winning or losing this season is really small and not embracing the rules as they're written today is a bit of a red flag in my eyes. You can see the urgency and desperation from Ottawa to have a good season. It kind of feels like we've decided it's okay to take a victory lap this season and get ready for next.

Guessing Buck will be moving the pocket a bit more to utilize threat of Strev taking off...rolling him out cuts the field in half but Strev is less effective in the pocket than when he's creating with his legs...and a good dose of RPO will help to keep the D guessing and open gaps for Brady or Strev to run through.

Excited to see what Strev brings after a full week of starters reps during practise...and to see what Buck has done in terms of game planning to put Strev in a position to be successful.  Not convinced having him pass out of the pocket for the majority of snaps on O is a recipe for success
Everyone is a genius at least once a year. The real geniuses simply have their bright ideas closer together.

Isn't that a contradiction? I would think he would dress but as the # 3 QB and be on the sidelines in uniform. We don't have another QB available on the PR.

Teams need to roster 3 quarterbacks, they dont need to be in uniform.

Even if we did have another QB, we might not dress him. Saves money.

Still seems like a loophole issue which I doubt was the intent of the rule. We have seen 2 QB's in a game get injured requiring the 3rd string QB to play ( Ottawa ) in the past. So if their # 3 was not dressed due to some injury that becomes an issue.

We've seen a QB nicked that could play and is dressed as an emergency.

I get that but what happens when a team loses a QB to the 6 game IR and doesn't have another QB on the PR? Riders just brought in Barriere due to Harris moved to IR.

Not many teams seem to retain a QB on their PR, but QB's are lost to injury all the time.

Last game showed Brady can't run at will against a team keying on him, nor could Andrew Harris. It's up to the O-line to make holes for him to run through and Strev. to punish Ottawa from keying on him.
