Do you think we made a mistake at DC

Doesn't mean he is the answer today.

This team is bad today, it was bad a week ago, it was bad two weeks ago.

This team will be bad next week.

The signs were there, people kept saying they made all the right decisions and don't question a thing.  It's all rainbows and unicorns.  Don't worry.

I said they will go 3-15, and miss the playoffs and they scoffed.  Make no mistake, they will miss the playoffs.

I doubt they will go 3-15 but I could see 9-9. We have been blessed by some amazing football in Winnipeg the past 4-5 years and the Bombers have been running it back for the last 2 years and just missed, a number of players are not playing to the level expected of a championship team it will be hard for the Coaches and Management to make those hard choices that need to be made there are a number of positions on both sides of the ball that are not playing to their levels of the past.

I think it's way too early to say anything about Younger.  He was gifted a D that was an SMS afterthought.  Someone run the numbers, we're probably spending SMS on O vs D by 2 to 1.  Maybe more.

Every year we lose our best DT and best DB to FA.  SAM always in flux (well, hopefully not anymore).  We're so low on talent that we regularly start and extra 2+ NATs on D that we don't have to and no one else does.

Given all the above I'd actually say that Younger is probably overperforming!  He should have the worst D in the league yet we're pretty good against the run, and even though we give up tons of pass yards, we've kept good opponents to low points.

So let's go easy on Younger until we have a bigger body of work, and a non-crap roster for him to work with.

Since we have to, yet again, bring forward TC guys to be starters & backups with even more injuries this week, I think our best bet is to stack one particular unit rather than evenly distribute talent.  I think we should focus $$ on DL.  If we could have a DL like the last few years then at least we can get pressure and help out our very weak DB corps.  So many DBs are injured and the others weren't good to begin with, I think it's hopeless to try to bring in some top vet DBs -- they'll just throw the other way.  1-2 good DL pieces is all we'd need to make a massive difference on D.

They for sure need to put away money to lock up Evan Holm next season so he's not stolen, that is if he doesn't get any offers from the NFL. He was all over the field tonight and I think before the end of this season he will replace BA as the starting safety. He's in his 3rd year as a Bomber on an ELC contract so he'll be looking for a raise and many clubs are going to be interested in acquiring his services.

Blue In BC

This forum goes insane when we lose even 1 game. Losing 3 games and trolls come out in droves.

Yes, Houston we have a problem. Actually several problems.

Coaching really made some serious blunders last night. Hindsight is great but if we go for the FG to end the half, it might have changed the play calling in the last series of the game. In theory, we might have still had the lead.

Throwing 45 yards down field on 2nd and 6? Yikes!!

LOL.

I thought him suggesting Streveler was the BEST player on the team was worse. OTOH, everything he's said is over the top and has no basis in reality.

It's one thing to suggest we should give Streveler more / different opportunities. We'd all agree that perhaps being used in different situations, or allowed to throw a pass a few times wouldn't be the worst idea. I don't know after 3 games there wasn't a chance for him to throw at least a short pass?

Benching or cutting Collaros and appointing Streveler the # 1 QB, not so much.

It was like they double down using Strev this week as a direct result of NOT using him last week when 1st and goal at the 7. It was effective but is it a long term strategy? Was Buck told to?

On defence, we have been affected by injury, but also affected by father time....BA was a great player but I don't think he is still "great", Biggie is one of the best to ever play his position, but he is not any longer, Wilson showed so much, but injuries derailed him and I fear as he ages he will never fully recover. Jake Thomas, has been far better than anyone expected, but at his advanced age, he again isn't "great".

I know some people especially on the other site rip the older guys, and the roster management, and to a degree it's at least partially valid, but it is looking like we went to well to many times with the guys we have.

I actually thought the game was mostly well called, I would have preferred we took the FG, and gambled on 3rd late in the game...but hindsight...

IMO no the DC was not a mistake...its too early to make that call fairly

Cam Lawson on the 6 game is a huge loss for this D.  The Bombers need to figure out how to win a few until he, Fox and others are back on D.  So I guess to answer the initial question for this thread is "no".  Big if, but the next 3 are all winnable games, and then hopefully we start getting some bodies back.

Let's bring up a senior hockey player to justify the trolling comments...yeah okay, you go with that.

We are decimated by injuries right now. We need an airlift from Walter's. Our DL in particular and now our receiving corps. Most teams with those level of injuries to their trenches and offence would have been blown out last night. I have never used injuries as an excuse for losing, and still won't, but they can certainly make it far more difficult to win. That's where we are at..zero margin for error..and that is long odds for any team.

It could be playing to the home crowd.  Could be word coming down from WM...  Crowd loves it every time Strevie is on the field.  They went nuts when Strev was thrown a pass (look it into your hands, Strevie).

Ya, tin foil, but hey, from a marketing feelz-good standpoint, it makes perfect sense.  Lots of Strev jerseys in Bomber Store now!!

Disagree on Wilson.  Watch the BC game again with a focus on Wilson.  He was making plays all night and in on so many of the copious Stanback runs.  Yes, Stanback was basically getting 5-6 every time, but we stopped all explosions.

Wilson is the last thing to worry about on D.

Wilson is still good but it looks like he has already peaked, unfortunately he spent the time he would have been most dominant on the IR which probably helped the Bombers from having him poached by another team in FA.  Hopefully he can stay healthy and they get another 2-3 years of consistent if not spectacular service out of him.
