The CFLPA is appealing the indefinite suspension of Lemon and he is now back at the ALS training camp!! UNREAL

theaardvark

And if Kelly appeals his suspension, he can be back at camp too.  Part of the CBA.

Not sure why the Als are using a counter space for him, he must have a good case for getting the suspension dropped.

Yeah, I don't know. He's not going to be on an ELC and he's no spring chicken. Even without the retirement and then suspension I didn't think he'd be back.

I wonder what changed his mind?

What changed his mind?

To quote a wise man: " He's not going to be on an ELC and he's no spring chicken"  No doubt the deal Mtl signed him to for part of last year is not insubstantial, and his last chance to earn from football.  And he may have gambling debts to pay...

CFL has to take a hard stand against players gambling, maybe he didn't gamble on a game he was involved in and thinks they should let him slide.

Yah, the Als should move on if they want to keep pace with the league leaders. I can understand bringing him in late in the season the way they did, but banking on him from the start of the season will not push their team forward, for sure he'll sit out half of the year on the 6 game.

BET99: "Bet like a pro, bet like Shawn Lemon."

BET99: "Lose 99 times and you too can be a #0 like Lemon".

In all seriousness:

a) I thought he retired... or was that just him getting ahead of a suspension he was tipped off as imminent?

b) Unlike the Kelly situation with tons of grey area, a gambling offense is either true or false and the punishment is what it is, or there should be none.  What do you appeal?

I suppose there is a chance he's 100% innocent and the CFL botched it?  But then why not come out and claim innocence sooner?

What a weird situation.  He's 87 years old, he should retire a GC star and get away from the limelight to preserve his pre-gambling reputation.

Lemon 100%  bet on a game he was playing in (to win, if you think it makes a difference). The basis of his appeal is that the CFL didn't educate players NOT to gamble, and therefore it was ok that he did.

Kelly doesn't need to appeal to be back at camp. That's why he was there on day 1.

He has to appeal to actually suit up.  He wasn't practicing, he was just there Day 1.
