Was pretty confident about Walters returning however I thought Buck would want to stay here.....can't blame him for trying out for a HC gig and likely twice the pay or more.   Glad we were able to retain McManus and Goveia as well....

I thought if Walters didn't sign then Goveia as assistant GM would get the job....

don't have to worry about these 3 for awhile at least....well at least until they announce the details and length of the contract extensions....as for Buck he'll either be the Riders HC or our OC and we'll know before the end of the week most likely

Wasn't too worried, unless these 3 were considering finding work outside the CFL there weren't any openings available.  No turnover in GM ranks this season but could be a few opportunities next year if some teams don't find a way to improve.

Ties into the Riders/Buck HC thread, eh?

This is great news!  However, to make the $$ work we almost certainly have to shed someone(s).  Probably Buck.

But KW & crew for Buck?  Ya, I'll take that trade.  And I'm a massive Buck fan.  If he wants to have a go at shooting his own foot in dumpster fire SSK, have at it!  Might he try for a HC+OC role there?

The interesting part will be the term for KW... Minimum 2, probably 3, as seems usual for CFL.  Ted/Danny might take a shorter term to keep promotion options open?  I'm getting the impression Danny doesn't want to do more and likes his job. Ted, who knows, I can't speak to that, but he sure looks like promising GM material, eh?

I'm bracing myself for Buck to be gone. Which will be hard, Zach really likes him.

The book on McManus is he doesn't want to move. He lives in Florida and does his job from there. I don't think he's ever going to make the move to fulltime GM. Ted has interviewed in the past but there just weren't any openings this year. I'm sure he'll get the opportunity at some point.

Pretty sure "shedding" Buck costs us money, doesn't save any.  Unless you are promoting Marty Costello to OC, you end up bringing in someone like Lapo, who will likely cost more than Buck.  Unless we give someone new a shot.

Yah I don't see any cost savings, due to the cap management will be paid the same as they were last season and the OC whoever they are will have to accept around the same amount Buck was paid.  Question is, how much of the pie did O'Shea swallow last season?  Is he now making more than his boss?

There's no way we have the space to sign someone for more than what Buck got.

I think internal promotion is the safest bet.

Anyone know if LaPo's family is still based in Wpg. or did he move them to Ottawa?
