Bad news is Buck Pierce being considered for head coach for the Riders

Good conference, though much like all of MOS's.  But he has that calm demeanour and I found it very soothing while I'm still perturbed about the GC loss.  I can see why the players like him.  Very chill.

I haven't had the stomach to watch the GC on PVR at all yet: a rarity for me.  After this I may be able to do it.  Now I just need to find the time.

In some ways this loss is/was easier (vs the loss last year).  In others it's harder.  It's weird.  I'm sure it's that way for MOS and the players.

No contest for me. This year way harder.

It's an interesting question.  I definitely took it better at the game when we went 2 & out and knew they were going to march the field.  I was like, well, we're going to lose another one.  It's more numbness than anguish.  Sitting in SSK freezing my bleep off, I couldn't believe they were going to blow it.  Sitting in HAM I knew full well they could easily blow it after watching 3 Q's and a replay of the non-bold 2022 playbook.

So the shock wasn't there this year.  More like "blew it again", meh.  As I go about my daily life, every few hours I have the ol' "how could they blow it!!" thoughts.  And flashbacks to key plays.  But it's more incredulity than anger or pain.  We should have wiped them away like gnats.  But we let them stay in it, and we let the mostly dead crowd get into it in the 4th.  Any given Sunday.

I am consoled by the fact I think we'll be great next year, too.  MTL and TOR and BC will lose a lot of top talent.  WPG will fare better as we still have the players-want-to-play-here discount.  And I'm still mega proud of WPG going to the cup 4 seasons straight.  That's a win in and of itself.  Cody getting lucky on a 3rd down hail mary to win the game doesn't change that.

If We lose Buck Pierce is Paul Lapolice  the replacement?

Logically, if he still wants to coach, O'Shea hired him once, why not twice?

He would be a good fit. Lapolice might improve the offense .

There will be no money left for Lapo.  Buck's decent salary just got divvied up to KW/Ted/Danny.  That's the only way they made the math work.  The next OC will have to work for peanuts.  (Note: entirely my speculation!)

you can't divvy up Buck's salary until Buck is gone.  I have no doubt Walters/Miller are not stupid.  They will not leave the team unable to pay an OC a proper salary.
Unabashed positron.  Blue koolaid in my fridge.  I wear my blue sunglasses at night.  Homer, d'oh.

Walters, Goveia and McManus may have liked raises (as would most people), but if there was no extra money left in the kitty they obviously weighed their limited options and accepted the same wages and terms they received last season, which would be significantly more than Buck Pierce makes as an OC.  To suggest Miller spent the budget designated for an OC on upper management salaries is a bit far-fetched.

You're 100% right.

That's why it's all happening at once.  It's just not occurring in the order we're being informed.  The KW deal didn't happen until Buck was 100% for sure gone, even though it's being presented to us in the opposite order.

That also means that the OC is already chosen and in the bag and they know what the $$ will be.  This is all one move, and none can be done without the other(s) in the bag.  The proof will be when our "OC search" won't happen, or won't fly in all the usual suspects for interviews.  Nope, it'll just be announced it'll be Mr. X from within our ranks, or at the worst, a no-name QB or ST coach or whatever sniped from another team.

Why?  It's all in the same SMS pool.  It is all the same kitty.  And it's all they have to play with.  It actually makes the most sense.  What doesn't make sense is KW/MOS moaning for 2 months straight about KW/Ted/Danny being underpaid, and KW making a huge stink (compared to previous deals), and then dreaming that they all re-signed for the same (or less!) $$.
