too bad this comes out now....legacies are built on Grey Cup performances and wins none of which Brady has acquired in his tenure with the Bombers.    If he decides to stay the Bombers will up his contract significantly especially since he was nominated MOP for the west and having a 2000+ combined yards season.

That's  YTBD,    He would make a good living playing his entire career with us and would certainly have his number up on the ring of honour.   He would be much loved in his home town and I'm still baffled at why he would sacrifice all of that for a shot at the NFL?    He seemed like such a rational and humble person.   I mean it was early last season where in his first 6 games we were all calling for the Bombers to play Johnny instead of Brady and then he found his game and managed to crack 1000 yards on his last regular season carry.

If he does an extended tryout session down in the US next season it will disrupt the Bombers season,  especially if he's cut and does return to Winnipeg.    I'm sure in his own mind he's not thinking about not making it, because it seems that's the way he rolls.   He has said numerous times this season that he feels he has unlimited potential to become even better than he is now, so the Bombers will undoubtedly release him and wish him well should he decide to pursue his ambitions.   IMHO it will be a Titanic mistake for him however he might prove us all wrong....however I'm not betting on that happening.

Keep in mind he went to play college ball in the US with every intention of being drafted and playing in the NFL.

Obviously it didn't work out that way. But know he's hoping his numbers get him some try-outs.

I would find a random import, definitely wouldn't spend money on FA for a guy.
This would be the alternative to drafting a Canadian RB. Johnny Aug would be good in a platooning role.

You can draft a guy too, but he wouldn't be a day 1 starter.

Deep breath.  This is GC rumour mill trying to excite since game May not be.  Easy.

I wish Brady the best.  For my own selfish reasons I would like him here.

That said the NFL is hard to break into especially in a position where there a dime a dozen.  That said he can catch the ball and this is important.  Reminds me of Clyde Helaire and how the KC  achiefs used him.

Milt or Davis said yesterday Brady told him this face to face during the Saturday GC broadcast. That is where I heard it.

Jeff Hamilton reported it this week. Same thing, said it straight out.

I guess he looks at a guy like Chuba Hubbard and thinks yeah I can make it down there. I think he will have a very difficult time seeing action on the field.

It would be a massive mistake if he goes south. Not to take anything away from his rushing abilities, but he's not a shifty, scat back type runner ie he didn't allude tacklers to gain most of his yards, rather our big O line was making massive holes for him to run through, cripes I could have gained those yards!!!~

He doesn't realize his biggest asset up here is his passport, not so down south. Literally dime a dozen down there. He will most certainly be cut. And if he does go, Johnny A will go in a show everyone he is the better of the 2 backs we have.

Johnny Augustine could very well be the next Brady Oliveira. He is developing into a very nice RB already and deserves a shot to carry the rock behind this O-Line if Brady moves on.
Go Bombers!

Can't really fault Brady for wanting to try the NFL to make his fortune.  Even if he's wrong, it's his mistake to make.  However, you don't talk about this for the first time (at least in a major way) in the week before GC!!  You talk about GC.  The team doesn't need these distractions.  The fans don't need them either.

Brady won't be easily replaced by a NAT because Brady was groomed by AH33.  The next guy won't have that.  We can roll with Johnny and a new NAT RB as backup, sure, but Johnny won't get Brady numbers.  I think Johnny can do a 1000 season, but he might not get those extra, hard couple of yards like AH/BO could.  I don't see Johnny ever doing 1500.

In fact, it could be years or decades before another AH/BO-level NAT comes along.

There are a few Natl. RB's that may be available and they won't cost much money as RB's generally don't earn much due to high competition for jobs.  The two I would be most interested in are Daniel AdeBoboye from the Argos and Jeshrun Antwi from the Als, both are strong runners and with the holes the O-line creates, either could flourish, especially if used in combo with Augustine.

I didn't know either was NAT.  Hmm.  But seem a little undersized / wrongsized for what we like to do, though.  Don't they?  And stealing them away might be tough.  TOR would probably like to have a NAT run game as a future possibility.  I'd peg Antwi to shake loose first.  But I'm not convinced either is better than Johnny.

Brady didn't do his NFL wishes many favors in the GC... chances are he'll be here, if not week 1 then week 9.

Antwe is 6'-0" 220 lbs, AdeBoboye is about 10 lbs. lighter and a few inches shorter, main point is both are physical runners.  With Harris retired and Ouellette doing well I don't think the Argos will worry about developing a Natl. running back.
