So Riderfans want Buck or Scott for HC...

https://www.riderfans.com/forum/forum/main-forum/1050569-vote-here-who-is-your-new-head-coach

SSK's JOD/CR have said they will start calling possible future HCs immediately.

My question is: is there a league rule that prevents teams bugging still-playing coaches/coordinators before they are done their (post?) season?

Can JOD just call up Buck tonight to hit him up for an interview?  Putting aside the question of whether Buck would just brush them off or not, of course.  I'm just wondering "can they"...

Officially they're not supposed to make contact with a candidate until the Grey Cup game is over with.  Sask. obviously broke that rule when they signed Jones and the Esks. entire coaching staff the day after they won the cup in 2015.  Don't know, but maybe that's the reason they established that rule.

TecnoGenius

Is it in the rule book, or an unwritten rule, or in a separate "office rulebook" / guidelines?

I hope SSK / JOD live up to the guidlines, since the guys most-favored by the fans are with teams making runs into the playoffs.  (Go figure!)

Personally I think Buck would want nothing to do with that tire fire (or a HC gig at all), but you never know.  Who do we have lined up as successor to Buck?  Who's our QB coach? ...  If he walks, I'm hiring Lapo in a heartbeat.

It's just a fan poll but I am sure Buck will have an interview or two after the season. Why isn't OG Rider Richie Hall on the list? Age only? He's a better coach now than when he was in 2010 which was the only time he had the head job.

I would also be happy with LaPo coming back IF we lose Buck. Wouldn't Milanovich be the favorite? Remains to be seen how many openings there will ultimately be this off season though.

You have to think Maksymic and Kilam are contenders.

Maybe. Rookie HC of a franchise in disarray with a rebuild looming and a GM who should've been shown the door? I doubt it.

LaPolice and Hall are good coordinators in their own right. I don't see either as standout HC candidates but I could see both getting at least a look.

I don't think the fines for tampering are that much of a deterrent.

Agreed. Buck was recently on the Bomber's "Handled Internally" podcast and he certainly seemed quite happy with his current position. This is the Bomber's official  podcast though so take it with a grain of salt.

Buck likes it here and maybe he is waiting for O'Shea to step aside in the future and he would get the head coaching job here. I could see O'Shea eventually moving upstairs if Walters ever decided to leave.

Just a gut feeling with the lack of Walters news that he may be leaving us. Juts my intuition speaking, nothing more...Ted or Danny would step into his role..probably Ted as Danny likes being down South too much.

Buck would/should be a candidate if he chooses to be.

Anything is possible but I'm not too worried anyone will leave the Bombers to move to a sinking ship. We could hear that Walters signed a new deal after the WDF and we're headed to the Grey Cup.

That would be a great time to make the announcement, with the Sask. decision to re-sign O'Day, don't think any other CFL GM opportunities will open up this off-season.  Walters either stays with the Bombers, or he exits the CFL stage left for a different opportunity.

Jesse

There aren't supposed to be announcements during Grey Cup week, but I don't know of any rule -official or otherwise - that prevents teams from calling and asking teams for permission any time they want (obviously can't call coaches under contract without permission).

Pretty sure Hall doesn't want the big chair anymore, he's comfortable here.  Buck might be an option, but I don't think the Riders are a good fit.

I'd put the early line on Kilam.  He's ready, I think, to give it his shot, and he's had good mentors...

I wouldn't put it past O'Day to hire Lapo back.
