Pete

our kickoff coverage has been an issue all year, you'd think we'd have fixed it by now.
The other special teams have been good

DCM

Brady Oliveira came in with 1,426 rushing yards and finished the night with 72 so 1,498 on the season. That's second best all-time for Canadian running backs in a season, Cornish in first at 1,813.

I reckon 1,500 is probably a bonus number so maybe O'Shea starts him vs. CGY, rush it up the middle first play, get the two yards then sits him until the WF.

Never a dull moment. Bombers were a little more sloppy than usual and that kept the Elks in the game somewhat. 2 PI's and 3 RP's IIRC.

Anyone at the game figure out what happened on the 77 yard Elk pass and run? Somebody missed an assignment or fell down?

I was hoping for another 50+ points when we got up in the 4th Q. Probably could have but we just ran out the clock rather than looking to score. Ok, I understand.

Hallett played well. I thought he'd get in earlier due to Alexander not 100%. Now he can rest up more next week.

Mostly good, special teams still not championship caliber.

No injuries...I don't think...

Congrats to Oak Park...1000/1000 Brady and Demski!

Even seeing it in person was tough to figure out what happened. Maybe Kramdi?

Our special teams still a weakness... special teams coordinator isn't doing much.

Assignment errors happen and sometimes it's the opponent calling the right play at the right time that took advantage. This one just happened to be a bigger result due to the YAC making it look worse. We've had a few of these in 2023 but overall not many compared to other teams.

We won big so let the coaches sort out what happened.

I think Holm was blitzing and no one picked up Manny....
Unabashed positron.  Blue koolaid in my fridge.  I wear my blue sunglasses at night.  Homer, d'oh.

I just re-watched the game and still nothing is obvious from the TV view. The only thing I noticed was that I couldn't see Alexander or Hallett in at safety.  Holm was close to the LOS but I tend to think this may have been a miscommunication between either SAM or safety if that was the case.

Even though it was not a great play on defence I was impressed by the DB's chasing him down. Kramdi and Parker showed some speed and great effort.

Hardrick penalty on the Lawler catch seemed very marginal at best. What threw me off more is that I thought Lawler had made the 1st down. To that end it would have moved the ball back but wouldn't have that made it 1st down not 3rd and 10? It was a penalty " after " the play. Was Lawler short of the 1st down making it 3rd and 10 1/2 or something to that effect?

I actually thought we were going to challenge the down and distance based on that but we didn't. It was one of those plays that could have had a significant impact in the end but didn't.

Elks nearly getting a pick 6 and then us going on to score kind of said it all for the Elks though.

That seemed like a chincy call on the objectional conduct penalty

Ya, finally saw it on TV, that was pretty weak.  Just pushed him off the pile a little bit to protect his guy.  I can see how they called it, but almost always do they let that go.  Inconsistency by refs again.  Made the game a little closer than it should have been as that would have been a TD after a Prukop sneak.

Demski limping

EDIT: I see later in the broadcast they showed the Demski boo-boo.  Looks like an ankle catch on Yoshi, but hard to tell what the injury could be.  Didn't really look like much.  So maybe it's nothing.

Demski did a post-game presser on the web site, and no mention or question at all about any injury.  Surely they wouldn't haul out a limping guy for the post-game?  So many other guys they could interview, like game-star Bailey.

Anyhow, it's critical both Schoen and Demski are available for the GC.  We can probably win a WDF missing one of those guys, but not both.  BOO84 and McCrae are nice, but they aren't Demski and Schoen.

I think they just completely ignored the TEs.  Everyone thought "run play 'cause jumbo set"?  No one even thought of Manny Show.  So I guess that would go down to "missed assignment".  Who would normally have the TE?  Probably a LB.  So maybe Kramdi, ya.  But who knows.  If Morgan had McCrae on a play, then this bust could have been on Biggie or Wilson, or even BA as you said.  In the end I think it's just a case of no respect for Manny.  Watching him still speed along was fun, though, as who can't like seeing Manny break one out?  It's like watching Thick Nick's final few catches and steamrolls.

Could be.  But there was a lot of action in the box, so who's to say it's on Holm.

Ya, @IGF I was wondering the same thing.  On my computer though it's pretty clear they got the spot mostly right.  They may have been off a half yard, at most, which still probably wasn't enough.  Yoshi will learn and try to keep his frequent extra-curriculars within the whistles.

Tell you what, if we're ever hard up for a MLB, keep EDM's Morgan in mind.  That guy never quit, he motored to every play, made a ton of big stops, got tons of DT stats, hits hard, seems pretty smart.  Call me impressed.

He's not shown to be a potential free agent going into 2024. Our list of potential free agents is very long and we'll have to see who we get back and who we might pick up in free agency in 2024.

There are always some top players moving to a new team. Hopefully we aren't losing anybody we want to retain.
