I would stay the course unless guys on IR won't be back soon

But I choose returner

You should have had an " all " choice. But I'm going to go with DT. We gave up 157 yards rushing to the Ti Cats. Lack of interior pressure to collapse the pocket gave Powell too much time to throw. That added pressure to the DE's and LB's maintaining contain as well. So it's a mixed bag that we've seen often this season even in games we've won.

No doubt we're losing field position due to all the ST stuff on coverage and returns. Yesterday the TiCats punts were nearly 9 yards longer on average. Worse field position and losing TOP resulted,

Added all for you!

Didn't realize our run D was that weak, mind you QB scramble did hurt us and I remember that.

I just watched the 1st Q before deleting the PVR. In the 1st Q Haba missed a chance on the return that went about 52 yards on the reverse. Then Alexander and a few others missed White as well. Overall we gave up over 160 yards rushing and that play hurt us the most. But Castillo is supposed to make PAT's and why he's here and Liegghio isn't. It's not like the miss was due to bad weather wind or rain.

On the missed PAT, Cole missed a near tackle in the end zone and Briggs missed his chance next. Briggs was too far inside which allowed the returner to run straight down the sideline. As usal Briggs in chase mode. Why he's ever on the field is beyond me.

We were out kicked on punts by nearly a 7 yard average. However our returns were slightly better. Certainly Grant returning is a good advantage but problems run deeper.

So there are good arguments about failures on ST's but the kicker IMO is still on the DL overall. LB's didn't have the best game either but our front 4 is the weakest link.

I think the talent in our secondary is very good but our scheme is spft coverage which may be an accommodation due to front 4.

We bit too hard on that run play fake.  Nice scheme and I seen live how Haba lost his edge contain.

It was a well designed offensive play and would have been difficult for any DE to contain. Usually a good interior rush prevents it from coming down to that. It also appeared that by design Kramdi followed his player from left to right and was out of the picture for contain. Right play, wrong defence, film study I'm not sure. Just saying we lack our interior pushing into the pocket and this is one other possible things we'd be susceptible to.

Generally Haba had a good game for his 1st game back. Can't totally blame him and I'm not sure Jeffcoat would have made that play either?

Yeah most ends would have been contained there by any reasonably talented OL.  I didn't focus on Haba but it's encouraging if you think he played ok.  Good start and then I did noticed him.

Have to give the Ti-Cats credit that was a very well executed play, the only thing that could have prevented it is prior knowledge gathered in film study and they may not have called that play previously with Powell.  Milanovich is looking like a genius for turning the team around and Powell is looking like a young version of Zach.

All of that is true. OTOH the defence has to react better when they saw White crossing against the grain. He couldn't / shouldn't have been the responsibility of anybody playing DE. As I mentioned I noticed Kramdi crossing left to right following someone ( Butler maybe ). In theory that should have left the responsibility to a  DB or Bighill.  I suggest a DB since White is a receiver and their best receiver to boot.

It could also mean that Bighill should have crossed left to right to follow Butler and Kramdi should have stayed put? We only know what players did rather than what their specific assignment was on the play.

White is an inside SB so I'm just guessing that either Nichols or Holm would have been covering him often. What their assignments were on that play IDK and I've deleted the PVR at this point.

You're assuming they recognized the play and it's intention, without prior knowledge there is confusion and a breakdown of  responsibilities.  Hindsight only helps them prepare for the next time they see that formation.

Not really. You always have to account for an offensive player going against the grain. White is their most dangerous player. To suggest they didn't recognize the play or there was confusion while possible would speak to extremely poor preparation.  I doubt it was the only play we saw against the grain even in this game. The defence has 12 defenders and the offence only has 7.

Our main need is twofold;
1. Returner
2. Defensive tackle, with kramdl in we can add an import, but he needs to be a difference maker, not easy to find.

If we are able to get ford back it opens up some possibilities, either on our use of roster or trades

TecnoGenius

My pick?  Someone needs to slap all coaches and coordinators upside the head and scream WAKE UP.  Metaphorically speaking, of course.

In every game we've lost we've been massively out-coached and out-planned.  Weak teams circle the vs WPG games and give it their all because we're wounded, vulnerable, and beating us gives a massive morale boost that lasts weeks.

If you need to single out a player:
- We need a real IMP SAM
- We need both J's in every game, and depth for rotation
- We need Grant back

All 3 are doable.  Only 1 might require a trade or acquisition -- or we discover they've been holding a stellar Darby in reserve...
