Thoughts on how Biggie always jumps and leads with his head on QB sneaks.

Every single MLB that is serious about stopping the sneak has done that.  This isn't just a Biggie thing, I've seen Henoc do it many times on his famous goal line stands.

Here's the thing, you have a fraction of a second to pick your spot, and even after you pick yours the QB, who normally still has feet on the ground, can alter their trajectory slightly.  So no matter what you do, if you launch into the air you have a chance of hitting H2H.  Your head can't just disappear.

I guess you could jump with both arms out in front of your head to ensure against H2H.  But I don't think that's what Biggie is doing.  You could easily break your hands or wrists doing that.  I think Biggie is spending extra time picking his spot to ensure he can shoulder the guy's helmet... uh, but isn't that technically still UR, even if not spearing?  You just can't win if they don't keep the sneaks a nasty free-for-all (as Dunigan always reminds us).

Maybe that's why our sneak-stopping rate has declined since that Biggie fine...

The funny thing is, the Biggie sneak-H2H-stops never injured any QB, but the non-H2H hop-over-the-top-pull-down the guy did on BLM did... Maybe they are focussing on the wrong thing.  Think about it: the QB is going slowly, the MLB only has as much momentum as he can get with a jump.  No one is running.  No one gets a head start or head of steam.  So when the MLB H2H the QB it's probably far less of an impact than we're used to on H2H sacks or open-field WRs and RBs.  Maybe someone should ask the players what they think?

"Linebacker T.J. Brunson will be lighter in the pocket following his first career CFL game, receiving a fine for a hellacious high hit on B.C. Lions? returner Terry Williams. He was credited with one special teams tackle on the evening, while also forcing a fumble."

Told ya all that wasn't a clean hit, helmet to helmet at full speed.

If that got a fine, then there's going to be a ton of fines this week.  There's been at least a dozen H2H and S2H and S2N hits I've spotted so far.

As it should be every week until players get the message not to lower their helmets and use them as weapons.  B.A. also did it to stop Mills in the Stamps game, but the league overlooks it when the target is a running back.

Couldn?t agree more. MORE headshots should be called not less, concussions aren?t going away and it?s head to head causing it. Should be called every time regardless of position and circumstance . You hit a guy in the head or with your head, it?s a penalty. Doesn?t matter if it?s a Qb sneak, 3rd and goal or whatever , call it!!!!!!
