Quote from: Pigskin on July 08, 2024, 08:45:16 PMSo the Jets have $4.5M cap space left.

CP91, and Coghlan left to sign.

Jets have spent $22M on there D core.

Wheel ad Schmidt costing us $5.45M this season.

Top 2: MO and Demelo

Top 4: Pionk and Samburg.

Then there's a whole bunch of 5,6. Miller, Fluery, Stanley, Coghlan, and Heinola,

Was hoping for a better group then this.

The guys on Illegal Curve are saying it's essentially the same roster as we started last season with. We've lost Dillon and Brossiot and that's about it.

Perfetti, Coghlan and Heinola left to sign.  Ehlers to trade, possibly in a package.  We have too many contracts if we sign these three, so something has to give.  Might be why we haven't signed them... or at least announced it yet

CapFriendly was still up last night but today it is no longer available, except to the W. Caps

Going to be using PuckPedia.com now

Whats up with this McGroarty kid? Looking like we wasted a first round pick?

Ranked at 25, we took him at 14, and he's upset and wanting guaranteed playing time in the show?

Lambert ranked 20, we nabbed at 30, and he's earned NHL playing time?

Chevy's inability to sign FA's has the team remarking about the time for young players to shine.  Scheiffle, Connor are not going anywhere and need a RW better than Neiderriter, the only RW on the roster at the moment.

Does McGroarty not see the opportunity?  Is he scared that Lambert is better?  Does he think his antics will make him more popular?  Blowing another million bucks going back to school another year when he could be improving his game at the next level? (Lambert has made 2 million since the draft, not sure how much NCAA hockey pays)

I guess I just don't get it...

Coghlan signs one year deal for $775K.

Bit of a correction  .... Vilardi and Appleton are natural shooting right wingers
while Niederreiter shoots left and plays on the left side with Lowry

McG is so far a huge mystery. Sounds very much like his value has been inflated by he and those close to him
The fact that the majority, guessing 99.9%, of people in the hockey world no doubt would be thinking poor thoughts of this kids plan of action.
Even if he has a change of heart and trusts that he can work hard for the privilege of advancing into the NHL,
I'm thinking his poor "Diva like" attitude, to date, will be a scar carried for his lifetime now.

Chevy might be lucky to get him into the Jet fold or to even now get as high as a 3rd Rd draft spot in exchange

Excuse my error Pigskin and have edited

Finally really took a look at how PuckPedia works, not close to being comfortable yet.

They show, probably triggered by Chevy etc., at the max 23 0f 23 Roster contracts, down from 25 on CapF
It shows 14 forwards, just 6 defense and 3 goalies for the 23 contracts

Fleury, Coghlan and Shaw were now listed with the non-roster and Perfetti still as an uncounted RFA

Not sure who his agent is (if he can have an agent while in the NCAA), but if he wants to save face, sign with the Jets and start earning real money, he can do a big mea culpa, fire his agent and get a new agent, and blame his old agent for everything.

As long as he cleans up his act after that, he will quickly lose the prima donna title.

Does McGroarty even have an agent?

It sounds like an attitude problem, IMO. That'll hinder him wherever he goes unless he smartens up and realizes he's got to earn his opportunities at the pro level.

Such a weird situation.

Sounds like he's just one of those guys who doesn't want to be in Winnipeg. Thought he could force his way out but his attitude got in the way.

The rumour mill suggests (take that FWIW) his expectations for himself are inflated irrespective of the team that has or were to have his rights.

Entitled players are the worst, especially when they've proven nothing.

That has to be in combination of not wanting to be in Winnipeg though, because outside of an absolutely crap franchise, his best opportunity to fast play time is here.

in hunting around this afternoon, found a story, posted last night on the Habs with their own head and/or ego case in 2022, 1st round pick, now 20 yr. old, RW., Filip Mesar. Then Googled and found a couple more stories posted today.
The inference is that it's McGroarty for Mesar, a draft pick plus possibly one of D-men.  J. Harris or Barron's brother Jordan      So far, that I read, it's a wait, as supposedly Chevy hasn't agreed with Habs GM Hughes.
