I?m almost fine with keeping the seal on if he?s helping with pass protection and run blocking.

But you can?t tell me there?s no way to dress one or more of: Parker, Daramy-Swaray, and/or another DL option.
Personally I think O'Shea has seen the Mark Wahlburg movie "Invincible" too many times.

I understand what you are saying but if not this, what is your answer to their pass rush? We got badly beaten last game, I can't see just trying the same thing that didn't work then. I don't put it down to just a bad game for the o-line.

Bomber OL has been the best in the CFL for several years. They had an off game against the Lions. Bryant has won the award in 2021 and 2022.  Time to play up to their abilities would be my answer.

The second part of that answer would be using either of the 2 extra Canadian OL.

The 3rd part would be to beat them mid to deep early with Lawler and Schoen.  That will move their LB's off the LOS.

What does Stegall say? Father time is unbeaten? They way I saw it is that the o-line just got beat by younger and hungrier. Surprised and didn't know what to do about it is how they reacted. I expect better this time too but agree O'Shea  should give them what help he can. I am confident in the receivers because their names are Demksi, Schoen and Lawler.

Starting 6 Nats on O but only needing 5 mans Wolitarski, Demski or Olivera can come off for Jackson as well... or anyone who is nicked of winded...

Not sure that is true if we're showing 8 Nationals starting including 6 on offence on the depth chart. If you're correct that might make sense and might be part of Darby not starting. In theory Darby could be the Nationalized American.

Is that what they are doing? IDK. In any case, we'd still be taking a receiver or running back anytime Jackson is on the field. For that matter we're actually showing Burtenshaw ahead of Jackson on the depth chart.

Conflict between depth chart, Canadian starters and no Nationalized American in the information stream.

Either it was a 1 game abberation or a pattern. We haven't had those kinds of issues except against the Lions. Won 5 games and realistically should have beaten the Redblacks. That game was a brain fart.

If it's a pattern then that is why we have OL on the PR.

I thought Dobson had outperformed Gray in his game, so I was hoping that was a change moving forward.

Extra Oline spread the D front, make the "edges" farther out.

FB fills gaps.  If they stunt or bring 6, the FB is supposed to step up and take one out.  Not something an extra olineman can do.

Same number of blockers, different deployment.

Unless you want Eli playing in the backfield.

If you're worried about Betts then moving the edge out further would be good.  The RB is also supposed to fill the gaps.

I'd still be curious to know how many times we use a 6th OL versus a FB. Some offences use a FB but they actually use him as an offensive weapon.

Find an import that is a better option than Jackson as primarily an occasional blocker.

Looking at the earlier game against the Lions, Jackson was on the roster. How did that help us?

You know the saying about repeating something and expecting a different result.

Keeping DJackson is a head-scratcher for sure for many including me. Sure he is a good blocker but is he the only good "blocker" in the O? Doubt it. We could roster another DL (either Fox or Garbutt) to make the DL fresh. It seems MOS and the coaches already forgot that what makes this D very very good (specially in 4th) the last few years.

Pigskin

Two FBs in the lineup. Would have liked an extra DT or DB in the lineup on a hot night. However, Jackson is 6'2", 263, so I guess he can always jump in and take a few reps at DE.

Lots of analysis here and I'll leave that to the Bomber coaches who have taken us to the promised land several times running.    I'm just hoping we get the Kyrie Wilson back that we had last year before he got hurt.   Also Rose was more of a thorn in our secondary at the start of the season....not sure about him however the coaches have reasons for making their decisions that we can only speculate on....which we do in abundance on this forum.   I'm really hoping we get Grant back sooner than later as our return game, other than McCrae's missed FG run back for a TD, has been underwhelming at best.
This here game will reveal exactly what these two teams are made of.....

Awesome stuff.

Bud Grant is a real Icon! Looking forward to that. Goldie sits right above his ring of honour name plate.

I think boys will come out firing. OL NEEDS to hold up or we may have an issue.

Not worried about Evans. D pretty much fully healthy minus Hansen so no excuses but making big plays!

2 weeks of prep and Lions on a short week. We should win by a decent margin.
I LOSHT MY MEMBER IN AN UNFORTUNATE SHMELTING ACCSHIDENT!

Parker must still be nicked, or got new nicks in the last game being the punching bag.

Holm has been good.  But beating out Parker?  I suppose it's possible, but I don't think he's quite there yet.

My ONE key to the game: Take away Evans' deep ball.  That means solid blanket DB coverage and front-4 pressure.  We do that and BC will crater.

I like that we put Rose to the field and split the Rose/Nichols pair.  Nice even match of talent on both sides.  Should give Houston some good chances at INTs.

If they planned to use him that way it would make more sense IMO. OTOH, how many times will he be on the field as a FB? Keeping in mind that an import receiver has to come off when he's on. So we might get better blocking but have less targets on each of those plays against a very good Lions secondary.

A smaller issue but worth mentioning depending on where they move the 2 DB's: We could have moved Jackson and or Cole to the PR. I'm not so sure we will or can do that with Parker and ADS without risk of losing them. So there is an SMS issue versus best roster options.

The roster moves might require players being released from the PR to make room. Depends on the choices made or could have been made with different players. At the moment I suspect Parker and ADS are moved to 1 game IR.

As others have mentioned the proof is in the game play and results. If we keep the Lions off the field with either very good offensive or defensive performance and don't lose any DL to injury, then all will be good.
Good question. In the Edmonton game, we had 56 offensive snaps. Jackson played on 11, 4 in the first half, and 7 in the second. Three of them were at the end when they were up 14, and running a "heavy set" with Eli and Jackson, with Brady running the ball to run out the clock. I watched him on all 11 plays. He made some blocks, and also missed some. He may have played more in the second half also because Schoen was out, and McRae is not the greatest blocker. He almost always lines up outside the tackle one yard back of the line. A few times, he teamed up with the tackle on blocking the DE coming off the edge in pass blocking. A couple of times he pulls back into the middle for run blocking. Eli played 10 plays in that game as an extra O-lineman, 3 with Jackson, the rest without.

Is that a good use of a spot for an American? Well I guess he plays STs also. But I can't help feeling we should be able to find a canadian FB/ST player than is only a marginal step down, and frees up a spot for an American D lineman.

Really interested in Wilson. Just hope he's fully healed, and can stay healthy.
