I agree and said that is our strength.  But if coaching is not an issue why did we collapse today and get shellacked by BC?
Good question?

BC out played and out coached us.  Today we didn't adjust well 2nd half and made some big mistakes.  Our coaches and schemes need to improve and need work but I believe we have the right pieces in place.  This group has got us this far, bump in the road.  I believe it's execution that we need to improve on, limiting mistakes and getting healthy.  Once those three things align, we will be great again.

C plus across the board. This team does some things very well, but not consistently. Our punter, I am not sold on yet. Starting D pretty decent, but Canadian depth just isn't there. O is not the juggernaut we thought they would be. Pretty much the same guys as last year, but just have not found there consistency yet. With Wilson and Rose coming back soon should help our D. Might need to look for a Canadian DL in a trade, Bennett is just not there yet.

As far as I can see Bennett doesn't have the physical tools to succeed at DE, and I don't think those skills can be learned as they're based on raw athletic ability.  Not sure what they hope to accomplish by keeping him on the game-day roster, if anywhere the PR is the place he might develop.

Why did they draft him with our 1st pick?

I think they were all in for this year and next, and figured he was the guy most likely to have some immediate impact out of what was left. Also played a position of need. May have overestimated how good he was and how ready to plug and play he was.

our drafting has been pretty weak as of late. What impact player have we drafted since Desjarlais/Olivier?s/Hallett/Exume? Kramdi? Calwallader? Not too pretty a sight.

I get tired about hearing " we're all in " for this year. Every team is all in for each year. Nobody is thinking about next year per se.

We may have tired to fill an area of need but he was the 8th pick overall. He should have been a better player than he's turned out so far.

This was not a particularly good draft for the Bombers IMO.

Teams try to strike a balance between immediate or impending needs and having prospects in the pipeline for down the road. That balance depends in part on whether they're contending for the cup or rebuilding. Sometimes players are drafted with the idea they will need 2-3 years to develop. Less commonly a prospect may look more pro ready. Bennet looked pro ready to them, and potentially more valuable than drafting an olineman for example who would need 2-3 years to develop, when we already have Eli and Dobson in the wings. I thought it was a reasonable pick at the time.

I don't know, he's not a real Cdn. so maybe they thought they were outsmarting everyone else with a Woli passport trick. Not many US college caliber players end up playing USport football, that's probably not a great sign.

It is turning out to be a sub par draft. Just Murphy that I consider a good one, considering it was round 3.

...Do you guys forget how to CFL? You can't judge a draft after six games. Maybe six games and a year. CIS players especially almost always take time. There is nothing wrong with Bennett at the moment. There is something wrong with all of these unrealistic expectations. The fact he's playing in year one is the achievement in and of itself.

True, he has not been cut so there is that.

Slow clap, listen to this guy folks.

The issue seems to be not our sudden lack of ability to play effectively, but rather an inability to play with passion in the second half of the Ottawa game.  I think we thought we had the game in hand at half time and let up in the second half.  Crum and company did not suddenly become an A+, Grey Cup contending team in the second half.  We somehow decided the game was ours and "played it safe" for the last half of the game, protecting the half time lead.

Can't do that.  Lots of blame to go around including players and coaches.
