I'm glad you mentioned this because I'm 100% in agreement with you!
We live 45+minutes out of town and on night games that start at 7:30pm, we usually get home only around 12pm. Not the greatest if you start work early the next day.
Fridays and Saturday afternoons are the games I look forward to the most.

I would bet money the "cottage people" don't have a huge impact on attendance anymore, and if anyone were to review the attendance numbers the last couple of seasons they would probably find Friday games have higher numbers than Thursday games. Seems to me a lot of 20 somethings show up to the Friday games to party, but not as many on Thursday nights.
Bombers seem to have a lot of fans of all ages attending games, unlike the Jets where it's mostly old people.

I am a cottage person, and it really doesn't matter to me. However I am also retired, so every weekend is a long weekend. At the end of the day there is only 9 home games, we just adjust our schedule a little each home game.

Thursdays are great.  Just take Friday off, (use up some of those vacation days) go to the cottage Friday after noon, and you've got a long weekend after every home game...

I don't like Thursdays because it's harder to get childcare.

But whether it's kids, or work, or school, it creates more challenges. Which is fine once in a while, but is difficult every week. And some don't really have the privilege to do it at all, so attendance will suffer for it.

Note that Fridays are still workable for people who go to the lake most weekends. It's ideal to go Friday right after work so you have the whole weekend, but it's not the end of the world to go to the game Friday and then go first thing saturday out.

I don't mind 1-2 Thursdays a year but I'm annoyed with the four that we have this year. Agree that Fridays are the best in the summer whether you're a lake person or not. There's a very special vibe of wearing shorts and sunglasses, drinking a cold beer in the hot sun at IGF and have sunlight until 10 pm to enjoy the view  . Fall games are fun too but in a very different way. Nothing beats Bomber ball in the summer on a Friday night.
