Worst meaningful Bomber game in eons? (BC@WPG post-facto GDT)

No chatter yet about the shambles debacle disaster?  Everyone still hungover, or trying to find ways to forget?

Well, I'm the forum's top wound-opener, so here we go... I'll go first.

What on earth was going on with the OL?  Everything else was "ya ok", but what happened with the OL?  It wasn't just Gray blowing A-gaps like last year, it was the whole unit looking like the worst OL in the CFL.  That's no joke.  I couldn't believe my eyes in the binocs.  All players were getting wasted out there.  Many times on 3 man rush, too?  BC didn't even need to blitz!!

I haven't stomached a rewatch yet (very busy lately), but from my memory and harried binoc observance, it looked like maybe only Neuf was playing well, or was it Gray?  Since when do both our tackles whiff many times in the same game?  Where was the RB blocking help and max-pro set?

Did the team eat pre-game at that same infamous Regina taco place that took out the whole Rider team last season?  Someone spiked the smelling salts?  Make it make sense.

Last time I can remember seeing garbage like that was Brohm's last start.

And NO ADJUSTMENTS AT HALFTIME!  Criminal!  Uh oh, I'm getting started...
Never go full Rider!

It was pretty bad...moving on though and really hoping and expecting that the o-line "performance" was just a bad game and will not happen like that again.  If other teams can manhandle our o-line like that we are in trouble.  I think they will bounce back.

BC came ready and loaded and beat us fair and square.

On defence - we are short some talent and were a bit exposed.  Getting some guys back will help.

Long season..don't want to see that again - especially at home

It was bad.

Reminded my of last year's regular season game against Toronto. We wound up winning that game, but it was the same thing, intense pressure from their D completely shut out our offence. One of our losses against Montreal was similar too.

It does seem to be an effective way to neutralize our offence. And our D isn't quite playing up to par right now.

Rinse and flush. We got out played. It happens. I don't expect it to happen this week. If it does then the conversation will continue.

This.  We will have a bounce back game and every one will be happy waiting for Aug 3. I can't contemplate the alternative.

It's really hard to go 15-3, like last year. Might be a blip, might be a sign of some regression towards the mean, but either way, I'm satisfied for now. We'll be right there in November and that's what the CFL is all about. The bar is now so high that a tough home loss is shocking. Not saying it's wrong, just perspective I think. I walked out of the stadium thinking that a good ol' butt kicking isn't the worst thing that could have happened.

BC gave the league a master class on how to beat the Bombers. Now we wait to see if anyone else can execute at that level against us.

And we also wait to see if we a) make adjustments to compensate, b) just had a single inexplicable bad game, or c) have an actual major weakness that we can't quickly address.

Agree with others that if we have a strong win in Montreal that we immediately forget about this and it nbd. Another bad game - even a win - and there's justified concern. That was baaaaad.

Someone reminded me that last September we had an absolute STINKER of a game on D in Hamilton last year. It was horrible...then we rebounded to our old selves and everything was fine again and at least I completely forgot it even happened.

My first reaction was that it was just one of those games. However depending on what happens in Montreal we can then decide if we really have a problem. I for one need to see our OLine make a statement. I am also worried about our run defence against what is probably the best back in the CFL.

IMO offence was an anomaly, and a learning experience.

In the same breath I will "die on the hill" that last game our D-line was not good enough to win. Halls defence relies on pressure and we were not able to generate that. This had a compounding effect and our LB's were attempting to compensate and "think" not play. Hall had the DB's play off as teh game went on to take away the BC speed but without pressure and the inexperience due to injuries in the secondary VA was able to tear it apart. This also tilted the score and TOP which forced us arguably "too early" to move away from the run game.

I think had we scored early instead of kicking the 3, the entire dynamic could have been different as we were having success with BO early. Keeping BO rolling tires out a D-line and eats clock. Betts et-all would not have been able to "pin back" and attack as much if we didn't fall behind so early and abandon the run. Granted with the D-line we rostered BC was going to score regardless, so it would have been a two sided shoot-out, possibly instead one sided.

Hindsight is 20/20 but two things we should not have done IMO was start that D-line with that little depth...and give up on the run as early as we did, if BO was injured, Baily and Demski could have helped as both have been involved so far this season, or rotate BO and JA to not further injure BO.

So with a few guys back will our d-line be good enough this week? We all know FAJ likes to hold the ball and roll "spin" out of the pocket.

The "master class" is nothing new. Teams have been trying to do the following for a bunch of years:

A) Beat us on both lines
B) Keep Collaros in the pocket
C) Take advantage of Hall's one-on-one coverage downfield
D) Play a clean game without penalties

Very few teams have been able to do it. It's not like they found a magical secret kryptonite.

The worst game I have ever seen SB66 play. Is this a one off, or is SB66 starting to show his age.

The master class was new. I haven't seen the Bombers beaten like that since Collaros took over.

There's been a handful of games over the years that looked similar. We just don't remember because they're so few and far between.

When was the last time we scored 6 points in a game?
