Wisdom says stop the speculation and wait for the results.  Discussing all sorts of outcomes (some wildly unsupported) doesn't help, doesn't speed thing along and the reality is that this will play out until resolved by the Bombers, Kenny Lawler and the authorities.
That's what folks have been doing for the 4 weeks the club told them it was gonna take. Now it's time for an update if they don't want uneducated guesses as to what's happening.

Wade gave an update, you just didn't like it.

Y?all are talking like the ?3-4 weeks? was some sort of hard number that we need to hold them accountable to.

From earlier in this thread, he admitted it is taking longer than thought...hope it is resolved shortly and he gave an update on how Kenny is doing.

From a Jeff Hamilton interview with wade:

The Bombers had originally predicted Lawler, who signed a two-year deal over the offseason, would be back somewhere between three and four weeks. That timeline has now passed, with next week marking a potentially fifth straight week Lawler could be sidelined, and there?s been little as far as updates from the team.

?It remains a work in progress,? Miller said. ?It?s just taking a little bit longer than everybody thought it would. We hope to get a resolution very shortly.?

Miller said the process is a time-consuming one and there?s nothing the club can do to speed it up. Lawler isn?t permitted to be with the team while he occupies a spot on the club?s suspended list but has been staying in shape and wouldn?t require much to be inserted back into the lineup.

Miller said Lawler?s spirits remain high and he?s eager to rejoin the team and contribute both on and off the field, with community work already something he and the Bombers had been discussing before news broke of his current situation. As far as giving back to the community, Lawler hopes to run a football camp for kids over the first bye week, assuming everything can get figured out, which isn?t a guarantee just yet.

Is it community-owned?  Am I a member of the community?  Then yes, I pay his salary.  I pay his salary as much as I pay, say, a federal employee's salary.

But even if WFC was privately owned, teams owe fans a little more transparency, especially when it comes to the biggest FA splash signing of the last 5 years.

If this was happening to the BC Lions I have no doubt they'd be 10X more transparent.

"Entitled" or not, fans, and then the media, raising a stink will pressure WFC to release more info.  They gave us their word on something and seemed to act in good faith (in the sense that it was plain English and we accepted it at face value).  The window for continuing on that tack is closing... Not closed, but closing.

Woah. Did you fall and hit your head? The Blue Bombers are a non-profit, governed by a board. There is no owner. You cannot buy shares. You do not pay anyone's salary. It is absolutely nothing like your relationship with the federal, provincial or local governments. As a member of "the community" you are entitled to jack squat.

Coaches Show 7:36pm MOS just told DT "no update" on Lawler.  DT says ok and they move on.

Oh well, so much for that...

That's a good start.  Glad WM is speaking to the issue, and staying committed to the existing narrative, so we can hopefully read into that that it is likely to be true.  That makes me feel better that the worst case scenarios are unlikely.  If they can give a similar statement maybe once a week, that would be useful.

A bit strange that it's WM not KW that's giving the info.  I don't think KW has spoken to it since the original announcement?  But he hasn't been in front the cameras much since then, if at all.

Anyhow, thanks to the WFC for saying more than MOS's "no update".

I guess "community owned" doesn't mean much, then.  I guess it should be renamed to "owned by a small group of board elites"?  Here I was naieve enough to believe the community was some sort of stakeholder in a "community owned" team.  At least the Riders club did sell off shares once upon a time, so there's that...

They didn't actually sell shares of the team. It was a fundraising effort.

At least Miller spoke to it and gave us some updates, general as they may be on Kenny and his mental/physical  state.    I feel a little better now but forgiveness is yet forthcoming

If you want answers about Lawler's status you guys should probably give these nice folks a call (Canada Border Services Agency), maybe you will have better luck getting answers from them than the Bombers front office people.

No such thing as too much jet fuel in the tanks, unless your'e on fire :)

You forgot to add /s to the end of your post.

You're also wrong, BTW. IRCC would be the federal agency handling his immigration issues, not CBSA.

At least we are saving money.

We can use that money to sign whatever holes we still have in the roster in September.
