Is Lawler getting his huge bi-weekly cheque while on this suspension hiatus?

What if he knew this was going to happen and signed the big contract knowing he'll sit at home collecting the max $$?

I'm starting to feel a bit bitter.  It's even worse given that we were all definitively told "3-4 weeks" and now it's going to be week 5 at the earliest (and who would bet money on that now??).

He's had a couple of drops, and even in practice he seems to drop balls. I was sort of wondering if the Bombers might consider a change.

Agudosi did drop a couple vs BC.  Hands aren't the best.  But the EZ shot we took to him, we throw him a low ball?  What's up with that?  The key to Agudosi is bring him in when you get within the 40YL and you throw a EZ shot up above every one's head.  Remember his first game?  That's how you get that tall stud his completions.

I don't think he's getting paid.

But when he comes back, does he get all that back pay?  i.e. Doesn't his contract of straight-up money have to be fulfilled?

Has this type of legal debacle ever happened in the CFL before?

It's not complicated. He's suspended. Reasons for the suspension don't matter.

He got all of his upfront money (whatever amount the was) - but he's not collecting game cheques and certainly doesn't receive any back pay once he returns.

Both the Bomber braintrust and Lawler really dropped the ball on this which is unprecedented!!    I was so high when we re-signed Lawler and then on the flip side....so dumbfounded and disappointed with his subsequent suspension, after playing in the preseason.    How bizarre!!

The question now is....will he play against Calgary as he's already missed nearly a quarter of the season??
Bombers have been pretty hush hush about this??

I guess the silver lining is we are a quarter way into the season and our top receiver, has no bumps or bruises yet 8)

He got most of his money upfront. I believe he was owed about 100,000 over the course for the season which isn't a ton of savings for the Bombers from an SMS perspective. It amounts to about 22,000 and counting, so far.

I didn't like the Lawler signing in the first place, too much money to fill no real need, contributing to the over-payment of one position group. I'd call it a misappropriation of resources as it could have been better spent in other areas.  If he's already pocketed much of that $300k without performing, all the more reason not to like the deal. The Bombers are highly competitive with the receiving group they have in house, adding extra sprinkles on the Sundae is for show.

Disagree. Lawler on the field will make a massive difference to the entire group. He's a player that requires constant attention. Demski and Schoen are going to feast when he's back. And when the weather gets cold and you need to throw a fade to move the ball quickly? No better guy in the CFL.

Yeah sort of have to agree - I was not an O'Shea fan from the beginning but slowly making my way into his side over the years. Very few (if any) coaches have been taught how to promote their team on these talk shows. Most of them would rather not be there and if there only say as little as they can get away with. I am hard pressed to name one coach that really comes across well on these types of shows.
Mike Kelly.  Always entertaining on the coaches show but for all the wrong reasons.
Apologies for bringing him up.

I don't listen to the coaches show anymore because not much is said.  That's just O'Shea' s way since day one.  I don't fault him anymore.  Just keep winning.

His signing bonus was 125k so Lawler is missing out on around 7k a game by not playing.

The Bombers are saving around 3k a game with Lawler not dressing as they still need to pay his replacement.

I don?t think Kenny will be back.  Save money for down the stretch.  I hope they don?t have to pay too many vets on the IR
