It's disappointing that this wasn't sorted out sooner.

Argh, really.  Argh.

I don't recall Hughes or any of the other DUI / weed-bust CFL players getting suspended 2 years later.

4 weeks would mean Lawler can't start until week 4!!  So much for the signing bonus if he becomes ineligible to play in the CFL at all.  Why couldn't all of this have happened on EDM's dime last year?

Argh Kenny!!

I have no knowledge, but I would bet he failed to appear on the original charge.  The Bomber minders didn't get him to court because he was playing for the Elks, and he lacked the focus to take care of it on his own.

In 3-4 weeks he will get before a judge to make his excuses, get a heckuva scolding and a substantive fine and the Bomber will deal with the suspension as time served.

That's my prediction...

A bump in the road, no more.

Won't speculate, but arrrggghhhh.

That sucks we lost him to a suspension when it happened last time he played for us then he goes to the Elks and it's all good all year then he signs here well before camp even starts, then at the end of camp something comes up and he now could potentially could miss 20% of our season....like c'mon for timing......

I guess it could have happened in October....silver lining....maybe

This makes a heck of a lot of sense!

If it was going to happen, I think this might be the best possible timing because we've got everyone healthy (including Agudosi).

A DUI will be resolved within one year. If you fail to appear in court. He will be sent back to the US. And he?s done for the year.

We shall see.  Next man up.  Exceptional player but we are reasonably deep at receiver.  I would be more concerned if we lost a starting OL knock on wood.

His suspension is certainly not CFL related, almost wish it was, as mentioned above with the terms of his work visa this could lead to some pretty serious consequences.

Lincoln Locomotive

extremely disappointing.....not a great way to start the season.....in light of the many question marks surrounding Biggie, Olivera, Schoen, Wilson, and Jeffcoat.    These players are all pillars for this team.....I'm not feeling as confident as I was before TC however we will soon see how we respond to this adversity so early in the season.

I didn't mean it quite that way but it is a blow to the team.  Just that it was an abrupt unplanned stop.

It may be that he thought this was resolved in 2021 and unaware of further action needed. It didn't seem to impact his work visa in 2022, so we'll have to wait and see what the consequences turn out to be.

I wouldn't go that far.

It sounds like Agudosi will slide in until Lawler returns.

It's unfortunate but shouldn't hinder the team too much. And it'll probably mean Lawler will be even more fired up when he does return.

I agree this whole turn of events is whack. I thought that whole incident had been resolved long ago.

I don't get it.
The guy isn't a criminal.
Like many guys he drinks and drives.
Why are they picking on him three years later.  This seems like a violation of the his legal rights or human rights.  We are supposed to be dealt  with in a timely manner.  Fine him, pay restitution if vehicle damage, and pay the hospital bills of any injured person.

This is an old school breaking of the law.  Breath-a- lyzer had him blow over a certain amount.= guilty. I guess?
OK we are spending thousands of dollars when we could fine the guy, and lesson learned.  Save the tax payer all kind of money

Young adults make mistakes.  Taking away a guys livelihood seems like the punishment does not fit the crime.
