I know its early but Piggy can make Dru uncomfortable in his #2 position in no time.

Piggy can make something out of nothing because of his running ability.

Pigrome has made the team as the # 3 QB without any doubt. He doesn't panic, makes the correct reads and can make something out of nothing. He doesn't go down easy. He's shown good arm strength, accuracy and excellent athleticism.

While he may not get many opportunities as the short yardage QB, those abilities will have to be planned for by opponent defences.

Josh Jones didn't have much of a fighting chance to show anything. Little time, bad field position and rookie everywhere.  Probably goes to PR at least in the short term?

Staton missed a convert. I suspect he'll end up on our PR. Small sample. No game stats yet, so not sure who kicked off to what success. Castillo will be our kicker.

Salima impressed in his time at RB. He can catch, run elusively and he's tough to bring down. Depending on status for Oliveria, we may need to add him to the AR and that will impact ratio.

Matt Cole probably made at least the PR. If none of Rose, Lawrence, Parker or Darby can play, he may even up on game 1 AR.

Caleb Thomas made some plays. He should make AR. Almost by default.

Agudosi will start at receiver at least until Lawler returns. They threw more to him than anybody else.

Amare Jones had a nice route and reception for a TD.

I feel sorry for Harrison. No passes thrown his way and I would think that puts him on the bubble.

Also feel sorry for Damian Jackson. Great story. Great effort and team player. Ratio works against him. Could very well end up on PR.

I have some expectations as to a few players I think will be outright releases. No point in mentioning them now. I'll just see whether I'm right about a few decisions.

BTW: based on what we seemed to have seen, I'd be calling Lemon's agent to see if he's interested. Even as a DI, he'd help as the Nationalized American.

Young players that stood out:

#16 MacDougall DB 6'3"/205. (N)  was around the ball on every play
#36 Veltri   DB  6'0"/200 (N) kid has good speed and was around the ball all night.
#6 Cole. DB   (A).  Made some nice plays.
#38 Daraway-Swaray DB  (A)  Very good closing speed.
#96 Schemekel  DT 6'2"/300 (N) Looked pretty solid in the middle.
#29 Kelly DB  6'0"/180  (N)  Super quick to the ball

Most of our draft picks had a good game.

Pigrome, Salima, Agudosi, and Boo. All had a good night.

Leggs had a pretty good night.

Don't go through life looking in the rearview mirror.

Sir Blue and Gold

Matt Cole is really interesting. He's a pretty decent returner and as a DB he can be that in game emergency at corner. I guess he'll have to fight it out with Janarion Grant but we could use an extra corner more than an extra WR this year given all our weapons there.

O'Leary Orange had another strong game. I might start him over Wolitarksy.

We need to bring in another DE and not sold on the new interior players yet.

Parker hurt, looks like it might be more than an ouchie

I was watching that with binocs the whole time.  My guess is ACL.  Or that thing Harris had in 2021.  Either way my guess he's out for half or whole season.  Which really sucks because Parker was going to be part of the main game plan.

Looks like Holm will be the guy now.

Brown really does have to watch his back.  Piggy was looking hot.  I don't really care about the runs, I'm more impressed by the downfield work.  He has a great feather touch on the ball, and makes good reads.  For a rookie it's astounding how unflustered he seemed.  And with a garbage OL to boot!

I think we can eliminate the Prukop thread

Not so fast.  I saw no indication Piggy can do SY work.  Did he even sneak once?  I don't recall even one.  His body type should be good at it, but we need evidence.

Brown is not a good SY guy.  If we move Piggy to #2 then Brown will be out of a job.

Yes, Castillo / Leggs will be the K/P unit.  I'm still not sold on wasting a DI on Castillo until he goes top-3 FG/PAT % in CFL early in season.

Salami (easier to remember) is a keeper as the rarely-dressed IMP RB.  Or the sometimes-dressed-due-to-injuries McCrae-type guy.  Salami/Piggy pairing made life very difficult for the SSK D.

Agudosi seems a lock; knock wood re injuries, eh.

10-4 on Lemon.

Boo. All had a good night.

Leggs had a pretty good night.

I was watching BOO and he was whiffing on a lot of catchable balls and not making big efforts.  I was very disappointed and my impression was he has lost the Woli-backup role.  Who else do we have at NAT WR?

Since we need to backup 2 NAT R's, I guess we have no choice but to keep BOO, but he's got to be on the bubble.  Peterman was better; has he shaken free yet?

Leggs looked great, except for that early P between 15-20 for a penalty (that was him, right?).

BOO will not displace Woli in the starting line-up anytime soon. Woli is a sure catch every time the ball comes his way.

You bet.  Woli looked liked the best WR out there tonight in the few snaps he saw.  Bailey was having more trouble than Woli, and is more of a risk to be benched than Woli.

If Agudosi lights up the league in week 1-4, then Lawler comes back, you might have to take a hard look at benching Bailey.  However, that's a big "if", because Agudosi is still essentially a rookie and may need another year.
