Yes we made other mistakes...its a game of inches and we were short a few times...and we had a chance to win and they made a baller play to block it...however IMO no excuse that we don't get to OT..you simply can not miss a single..lettle mind 3 in two weeks!

The issue with Legghio goes beyond some suspect field goal kicking and point after attempts.  Watching him throughout the year, he does appear to have a weaker leg, at least it's pretty apparent on kickoffs.  During the Grey Cup game I noticed Bede would kick the ball to the 5 yard line or Bombers goal line and the Bombers would return it to around 30 yard or so.  I waited until the teams switched sides to see how far Legghio would kick it to the same side of the field and he appeared to only reach the 20 (or just inside the 20) and the Argos often seemed to return the ball past the 40.  Those 10 - 15 yard differences for the offenses might not seem like much difference but I think it can really add up over the course of a game giving one team a decided advantage in field position.

I'm not sure how I would rate Legghio overall, if we factor in both his punting and his kicking (I haven't looked at net yards on punts), but I think strictly as a field goal kicker and kickoff specialist, grading on a curve, he is easily below average, and probably bottom-2 in the league.  If his overall punting is average or above average relative to the other kickers in the league, that somewhat complicates things and makes it more difficult to grade him.  Fulfilling two roles, and being Canadian, provides the Bombers roster flexibility elsewhere which further complicates.  If we replace him in the off-season, with an American, or even if we leave him the  punting duties  and bring in an American for kicking it means one less roster spot elsewhere.  These changes don't occur in the vacuum.

Anyways, I need to digest this loss.  There sure were some other issues that led to the Bomber loss like suspect O-line play and plenty of suspect passes and mistakes by Collaros throughout the game (don't think I have seen Zach play a good game in moderately cold weather with the Bombers yet - NOTE: IMO, last year's Grey Cup game, I would rate no more than average for Zach even with the comeback as he made some critical mistakes throughout that game, and 2019 was all about the run game - Harris, Streveler - so Zach really didn't have too do much...he was just solid.

With that said, as of right now, I would definitely be bringing in some serious competition for Legghio next year.

Toronto played better than the Bombers.  It's easy and true to say Liegghio cost us a few points, but overall, based on the final score, the Bombers should have overcome those misses.  We had our opportunities to score a couple more TDs and we didn't.  It makes no sense to say then, when we didn't score those TDs that Liegghio was solely responsible for the loss.  It was a one point game!

But we also didn?t go for a field goal earlier in the game because OShea knew he couldn?t make it, so we punted a short punt, so had we had a real kicker, it doesn?t even get to overtime despite the missed pat, we win outright.  Leigghio is the sole reason we lost this game tonight, quit trying to sugar coat it. If everyone ?does their job? our kicker kicks us to victory. And the last blocked kick was so ugly it didn?t even have a chance of clearing the line and even if it did it was wide left. We lost because of our placekicking, plain and simple.

Making the point that our kicker was an important reason we lost is fine. However, digging up 10 old posts demonstrates that you?re more interested in showing everyone how smart you are.

I agree mostly with your last statement, the days of protecting Leggs job from competition should be over, see if they can't find the next Medlock.

Well, they sure tried to overcome the misses. Unfortunately, they weren't able to this time. True, no one player ever solely costs you a game, but I think with the kicking in this championship game and the last 2 years overall, it's fair to question whether we have the right player at that position.

Leggs didn't have a good game. Two bad punts, missed extra point and a blocked FG to win the game.

BLUEBOMBER

Not all on Leggs but he could have won us the game...

Too many mistakes, from the HC through to the Oline.

Trying to scapegoat Leggs is wrong, and immature, and not something he or the team needs/deserves.

The team lost.

Whether it was a missed kick, a bad pass, a QB that was not 100%, a missed block... the team lost.

Its going to happen, no team wins every game.

Toronto got slightly luckier than we did today.  They lost MBT and Kelly stepped up big time.  If MBT doesn't get injured, I really think we win this game...

But, in the end, the team lost.  And day 1 of next season, they will be setting up to win game one, and then the next game, and then the next...

And GC 110 can be ours.

Correct.  The HC should have gotten rid of Leggo a few months ago.  Huge mistake that cost the Grey Cup.

High iq take right there.

Imagine blaming one player for tonight's loss.

Win as a team, lose as a team. And the losing team tonight didn't deserve to win.

I went and watched the highlights (I listened to it online, rather than watching it), and looking back over the entire season... championship games can be really tight as players and teams elevate their play (this is the fourth time the Argos have been underdogs in a Grey Cup - the others being 2004, 2012, and 2017 - and won).

Nothing is guaranteed, but Medlock (probably) makes that kick. Castillo (probably) makes that kick. Championship teams need to make critical plays at critical times, there is no do-over. This is especially true for FG kickers because they are only called upon to make those kicks a few times a game (converts and FGs).

Liegghio's combined FG+convert success rate is among the lowest in the league. Up until now, it hasn't mattered. Now it has mattered.

Please try hard to make sensible comments.  Sure it's a disappointing loss.  Sure Marc Liegghio's misses contributed to the loss but there were other Bomber mistakes that equally caused us to lose this game. It's called a team game for a reason.  And most teams will say they win or lose as a team.  Laying it all on one person is not only unfair, it is unreasonable.  There were missed kicks, interceptions, sacks, explosion plays, missed blocking assignments and they all factor into the equation.
