So, A quick update. The family is doing very well. The kids are loving school. Inna loves her job, and her English is much better. Artim enjoys his job but is concerned with all the crime and violence in Winnipeg. He is looking at small communities. Inna would have a job ASAP, but for a millwright, it might be a little tougher. Still at our place but moving out at the end of the month. They have decided to take us up on the free apartment offer. Anna says time to start paying our own bills. lol

They are great people, and we will miss seeing them every day.

The move is on. Started moving the family over to their new place today. It's going to be a little different for them. 2 bedrooms and 1 washroom. Paying for TV, internet, insurance, groceries, and utilities. But they feel it's time to start making their own way in life. They didn't have anything for the apartment, but I was surprised to see that Anna had put away about 4K since moving here. Our church kicked in some nice items for them. A very nice used dining room set. We gave them the beds they were sleeping in at our place, and a new 55" TV. They were able to purchase some very good used furniture off of Kijiji. We have a rummage sell at our church every fall, so the church let them have their pick of pots, pans, dishes, and any other items they needed. Looks like they will be spending their first night on their own on October 1 as scheduled.

Well, our family is on their own. Well, for the most part. They are very solid, hardworking people, I believe they will reach their next goal with no problems.

Well done helping them get acclimatized and on their feet here.  Hope they do well.  Are they in Canada permanently?

They are hoping so. I guess the Government will have a say in that.

That's just amazing that you and your community were able to do so much for them.

Closing in on two weeks on their own and doing well. Took a bit to figure out how to get the kids to school and them to work, but they have figured it out. They're living space is much smaller and only one washroom, but this also working itself out. I have a washroom and shower in the maintenance room and Atrim has figured out that this is a great backup washroom for him. Thanksgiving dinner went very well, and it was nice to catch up with them.

Well, it looks like we are going for round two of having Ukraine house guess. This is a couple in their late mid 30's with a young son. They have been living in Toronto but have found it much too expensive for them at this time. They are friend of Inna and Artim and have decided to move to Winnipeg to be closer to longtime friends. The female is a nurse and has already landed a job. The male is a heavy equipment mechanic and has a couple of interviews lined up when they arrive. School still has to be worked out for their son who is in Grade 2, but they are considering home schooling him for the rest of the year. So happy Manitoba is gaining another nurse.
