Blue Bombers add to practice roster - September 20, 2022

WINNIPEG, MB., September 20, 2022 - The Winnipeg Blue Bombers today announce the club has signed three American players to the practice roster; defensive back Raleigh Texada as well as offensive linemen Payton Muljo and Liam Fornadel.

Texada (5-10, 188, Baylor; born: June 30, 1998 in Frisco, TX) comes to Winnipeg after a five-year career at Baylor. After redshirting in 2016, Texada earned more and more playing time over the course of his career, going on to start 32 of 37 as part of Baylor's secondary. Texada finished his college career with 142 tackles and four interceptions and was named to the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll four times.

Muljo (6-6, 305, Northern Michigan; born: August 6, 1998, in Marquette, MI) joins the Blue Bombers after a four-year college career with the Wildcats. Muljo appeared in 19 games at left tackle, helping the Wildcats reach a new single-season rushing record in 2018 and in 2021, was named an All-GLIAC honourable mention.

Fornadel (6-5, 311, James Madison University; born: June 17, 1999, in Wyckoff, NJ) comes to Winnipeg after a five-year college career with the Dukes. Fornadel was a part of one of the best pass-blocking offensive lines in the nation. To finish out his career at JMU, the offensive lineman was named HERO Sports FCS Second Team All-American, VaSID First Team All-State, and FCS Preseason First Team All-American.

Interesting, a couple of big Americans for the OL, good time to audition for OT replacements, in case this is Bryant's last season.  Texada is the younger brother of the DB now playing for the Als, who was in Bombers TC earlier this year.

OL candidates are interesting but of the least importance at the moment. Ok, we added one more DB and may be adding more during the bye but we need DB's and LB's to beef up our roster.

Good.
Love to see some younger guys, just in case we have some injuries.
Plus maybe get these new guys some playing time, once we clench 1st.
Actually, even after the bye Mr. Hardwrick looks like he could use a couple of weeks rest.  Then the next week Stanley could have another rest week.

Lol!

Texada could replace any one of four DBs from the Hamilton game, like yesterdy

His brother is now on Montreal's PR. Both of them have tons of speed.

Are you referring to Texada's brother?

Would be nice to pick up another DE. We now have 5 OL's on the PR, one on the 6 game who has been there all year.

We have one DE on the PR, Wilcots who hasn't been impressive when he does play.

Raleigh Texada has run a 40 in 4:35. NFL test day ran a 4:40 and had a vertical jump of 37" This kid should be able to close in a hurry.

Exactly. Maybe that still happens during the bye but that's a lot of OL. IIRC Richmond was close to healthy and they seem him on him. In adding new OL to the PR, it may be that we're dropping some other OL? Time will tell.

Regardless. Most of our DI's are on defence and most of our injuries are on defence ( 8 of 12 ).

Add some bodies for depth at the very least.

I wonder what happens now that Couture is back, are they going to keep Dobson and Kolankowski on the active roster or shuffle one of them onto the PR.  They really can't afford to dress 7 again, with the lack of depth on the D.

Well, if they want to keep developing Dobson, Kolski will have to go to the 1 game or PR.

They can dress 7 for now.  There aren't really any other Canadians to activate until either Woli or Noah Hallett come off the 1 game IR. An extra Canadian DB might less valuable than a 7th OL, although Hallett could be useful on ST's.

IMO it's more likely we stay with 7 OL until Woli is healthy.

EDIT: When that happens one of those OL will be moved to the 1 game IR, not the PR.

Didn't Kolankowski67 signed a 2-year deal in the off season. He really did a great job stepping in for Couture.
