Buck Pierce

I have to think that if the Bombers win another Grey Cup that Buck Pierce will be high on the list of a potential head coaching job. There should be a couple openings in the league. Montreal and Ottawa will almost certainly be looking for a head coach and I wouldn't rule out Saskatchewan and Toronto as well. I do think one way to keep Pierce would be to make him the head coach here in Winnipeg and move O'Shea upstairs. If LaPolice was to get fired maybe the Bombers could get him back as Offensive Coordinator.

I can see O?Shea being heavily enticed by Toronto or Hamilton. That could open up the door for head coach.

What do you propose they do with Kyle Walters, kick him into the street?

I don't see this happening for a few years

Buck called one of his best games the other day.  Astounding.  Love the new looks, plays and wrinkles.  I study these guys like crazy and he had me completely baffled half the time, and biting hard on playfakes.

Buck has exceeded all expectations and is very close to par with Lapo as an OC.

But Buck is only 2 seasons into being our OC.  I think he wants to establish himself more.  We can keep paying him well, along with Hall & MOS.  The group works well.  Break them up and it might turn into Lapo-ville wherever they end up.

Also, watch the Buck interviews, I'm not sure he's HC material.  He's very soft-spoken.  He might prefer his current role.  What might be more likely is another team poaching him to be their OC for more $$; but I doubt they can offer him oodles more than us, so why bother.  He's a WPG fixture.  He should stay, and open another lounge  ;D ;D

Honestly I think Buck is better...

I to prefer Buck over Lapo as well. When it is 2nd and 10 Buck calls for the pass play that will get the first down and more. Very little of this dink and dunk crap where the WR catches the ball and gets tackled short of the 1st down.

Buck's doing way better than I expected, helped immensely by Collaros. Lots of new wrinkles put in during the bye week. Had Calgary on their heals for a while.

Not sure he's HC material yet.

I wouldn't think he's ready, but teams always want the next young OC to be their HC - look at Dinwiddie - so it's a matter of when he wants to start interviewing for jobs.

You can't just kick everyone up a spot though - with the new salary caps - positions need to be made available. MOS would also need to want to leave his current role.

Bottom line - this is what success does. Your role players leave for starting jobs, your coordinators leave for HC positions. You can't stop it, you just have to keep scouting and developing, coaches as well as players.
My wife is amazing!

He needs a couple more years, before looking at HC positions.

Buck is good but needs time before he can reach Lapo's level.

I find many are too hard on Lapo from his play calling when Nichols was around.  Lapo is a proven very good OC.

Buck is a wee bit too aggressive at times and Lapo is a wee bit to conservative.

I like them both a lot.

Hey...I actually agree...well stated!

I think Buck has been just about perfect with the mid to deep called shots. I like him much better than Lapo.
A few of these plays are off script. Buck is better at keeping these teams off balance than Lapo.

Yes true, but also don't forget that Buck has had Collaros and LaPolice mostly had Nichols. Bit of a difference.
