Kenora fishing has been incredible. Went out this morning pounded some amazing walleye. Tonight we decided to find some small mouth bass. Just love catching small mouth bass and they taste pretty good.. Down side. Mosquitos, they are terrible. This is the worst year I have ever seen.

Low side of Pine Falls is still very fast moving water. But up by the mouth people are catching good size walleye. The top side isn't very good right now. Apparently slow fishing, and tons of mosquitos.

Bird River also slow, for Walleye.

I've heard fishing has been incredible so far this season for the most part. My relatives near Vermilion Bay said the walleye have been really active but the bugs are terrible.

I still can't wait to get out to NW Ontario next month and slay some walters and hunt for muskie. Grin

I still haven't been out yet because of the mosquitos. Also the lake is so high most of my usual fishing hole is underwater (I only fish from shore). Thinking about targeting perch from my kayak, but the risk is if I hook a bigger species it could pull me around and it would be tough to get it in the boat.

My Grandson hooked a big northern yesterday. Got it up to the boat had to be 40-42 inch. About a 30 minute fight on 10lb. test. Removed his jig and let it go.

Fishing in Kenora still very hot. Lot's of Wally's on jigs/minnows 14" - 18". The bigger we caught on little joe's and nightcrawlers.

My neighbor went to Pinefalls on Saturday. Travelled up to mouth of the lake. Got into a bay and used 5/8oz jigs and salted minnows. Him and his son, 45 walleye's in 3 hours.

Got the opportunity to hunt for pike on GSL Saturday afternoon. Our guide put us on some great fishing in a shallow, weedy bay about 50 kms south of Yellowknife. Our group of four landed well over 40 (guide lost count with his counter), with the smallest being 34" and the biggest being 42" with a dozen over 40" in roughly 2.5 hours.

I still can't fathom the sheer size of GSL. It is a monstrous lake filled with monster fish.
