Streveler caught lightning in a bottle here, and has turned it into some looks in the NFL.  I can't see him coming back here in a backup role, unless his only other option is working in the fast food industry.  He is a gadget play guy, albeit an amazing gadget play guy, but he is not a starting QB.

I think he should really start thinking about the option of playing TE... or RB/WR... he has the toolset for that, and could get an NFL look for serious cash doing that.

Don't get me wrong, love the guy, love what he brings to the team and the field, but barring playing purely for the fun of it, I cannot see him coming back here barring Colaros retiring and Prukop completely pooping the bed, neither proabable, and both happening is very unlikely.

Can't see Strev. coming back to Wpg. to slot in as backup, I believe he has mentioned in the past that he wants to be considered a CFL starter. As effective as he can be running the ball, I don't think that would work out very well, as he's more or less a one-trick-pony.  I think his reckless style of play is unsustainable due to the accumulation of injuries, he barely made it through the Cup run in 2019 playing limited reps.  As a starter, he might not even last half a season.

I don't think durability is an issue, he had a broken foot and played through it, its not like he's fragile.

The issue with him being a starting CFL QB is talent.  He has a very particular set of skills, and they compliment a QB like Collaros quite well.  But for him to line up under C every down, he just does not have the skill range to QB a complete playbook.

If he just wants to play, like he did in college when he player Rec just to get on the field, and is willing to earn $100kish, Ihave no doubt Kyle would welcome him with open arms to compliment Collaros, or which ever QB we have running our O.  But i don't think he will find a job as a starting QB in the CFL.

Telling us to get over him is being a little grumpy.  Fan fav. We will continue to hope he comes back here or the CFL.  Denny came back! Lol

Ya, and it wasn't just in WPG.  Ridersfans and other forums had people liking Strev.  I don't think I ever read a bad remark.

My favorite comment came from Ridersfans during the '19 playoffs:

"Why won't the man just break already?" (paraphrasing)

Strev is an exciting CFL player..
His size compare to the small DBs, and Lbs makes him trouble to defend.

If he wants to come back, and resume his previous role, sign him up.  If I were him, certainly exhaust the NFL.  But he is one of those tween guys.  Not an everyplay player, but who is now a days?  (Many guys are situational players)

If he wants to feel wanted, this is the place.  I re-sign him not for his throwing ability, but as before he left, as a third down specialist(or any short distance guy. ( I don't want Zach getting dinged, with his concussion history.)

(Just being selfish)

In the NFL, as a gadget 3rd QB that can fill in in a pinch, I think he's worth having on any roster.  But with most teams rostering only 2 QB's, that makes it much harder to find a spot.

As the PR time expires and vet min salary creeps in, finding an NFL job gets harder.  But definately, chase the dream.  But, while in NFL camps, try some other positions.  He has the physicality, not sure where he'd fit on O though.  Too samll for TE, too slow for WR/RB... maybe LB?  Is it too late for him to change which side of the ball he plays?

With naturalized Ints and multiple QBs on the field in the new CBA, I think his opportunity increases in the CFL... *IF* he wants to play ball and doesn't care about getting starting QB money...

The NFL does not view it's quarterback roster spots like that at all. Each QB roster spot is filled with a guy they are trying to develop into a starter or a veteran guy who is more game ready. The position is far too important to keep around someone as a 'gadget' and teams just don't do that. Too competitive. Too many good athletes.

Streveler held NFL spots because teams thought he could develop and they liked his athleticism, age and potential. The equation changes over time. But to his credit, Streveler did get a real NFL shot over his time there and that's better than you can say about most.

...Also, the NFL is not a school yard. He cannot 'try other positions'. "Hey coach, I've never played linebacker but I'm going to give that a shot today" is not how the NFL operates.

CS is a pure athlete and I could see the bombers using him in a ton of different ways. He has played receiver in the past. We know he can run, and know that he can play QB. The bombers would be smart to have this type of weapon in there lineup. Having a few packages for CS each game would be a bonus, and help keep ZC8 healthy. Give the guy another year or two develop in the CFL will only help this team down the road.

Of course the Bombers want him back. But even if he comes back to the CFL the stumbling block is money.  We got ours spent.

I've rewatched the '19 season a few times and I think Strev is the fast-twitchiest QB I've ever seen in the CFL.  Dude goes from standing there in the pocket like he's going to throw to full on run in a way that seems impossible.  There was a great example in the '19 GC where he does this.  Making reads, making reads, making reads, 3 yards up the gut.  All in like 1/10s.  It's crazy.

No wonder defenders have trouble with him.

Can you imagine him in the 2-passes USFL in the slot?  We deride his passing, but the dude can still pass, especially if you design gadget plays around multiple passes that can lead to busted coverages downfield.  Not like he'd take a job in USFL, but it's an interesting thought.

Let?s be real here for a second?.
Streveler had legit opportunities with Arizona and Baltimore.
Had brief stints with one of the worst run franchises the NY Jets and another questionably run franchise the Miami Dolphins.
The way I see it is his only other possibility is maybe glances from teams like Jacksonville, Houston, Detroit and maybe Cleveland. If he has any shot at the NFL still it?s one of those teams. Otherwise the CFL is his best opportunity now.
I?m not going to be one that says he ?can?t throw??he played in a low risk, low mistake ball control offence under Lapolice. There?s very few OC?s out there that can fully utilize a guy like Streveler.
We all need to really look at the situations Streveler was put in.
In his rookie season he was thrust into the starting role due to injury to Nichols at the start of the season. What CFL rookie has ever been an absolute star, stud QB when being thrown into a starred role after only being with a team for 6 weeks. (Please name one and compare stats to back it up)
In Strevelers 2nd season what was it 7 games in before Nichols got injured again? Streveler got thrown into the role and might have taken more shots on his own but still had a Lapolice play calls to deal with.
Streveler is absolute money in short yardage situations and was also money in those 1-3 play packages used with a short yardage situation.
I feel like with now 4 years of Professional experience he needs more of an opportunity to showcase his talent and I think a guy like Buck Pierce and an offence like ours would be his best fit?.
Thing is the money probably gets in the way as it does with a lot of players that have had the NFL bug.
Chances are he goes to BC, Edmonton, Toronto or Ottawa as those are the only teams that probably need a guy like Streveler. Not sure what his role would be in Ottawa but Lapo would probably use him the same way as Winnipeg.
With Chris Streveler on your roster it opens up a tonnnnnnne of possibility and flexibility to formations and plays that can be extremely stressful to the best defences. He should be and can be used as a Qb, RB, WR and hell lined up as a TE. There?s very few offensive players that can lineup at multiple positions and that?s what coaches need.
Streveler might not be a star starting QB but could easily be a starter on 2-3 teams in the CFL right now.

I can see his number being on some GM's speed dial, if a starter goes down with a season ender, the backup has a rough time, and they need someone to replace them asap.

Or, a contract that is for backup money with huge playtime incentives.
