Blue Bombers acquire defensive tackle Cameron Lawson and 13th overall pick in trade with Montreal
WINNIPEG, MB., May 3, 2022 - The Winnipeg Blue Bombers today announce the club has acquired Canadian defensive tackle Cameron Lawson and the 13th overall selection in the 2022 CFL Draft in exchange for the 9th and 18th overall selections.
Lawson (6-3, 285, Queen's, October 7, 1998 in Caledon, ON) joins the Blue Bombers after originally being selected by Montreal 16th overall in the 2020 CFL Draft, appearing in four games for the Alouettes in 2021.
Prior to joining the Alouettes, Lawson played four years at Queen's University and in 2019, was named a U Sports All-Canadian and OUA lineman of the year. He finished his U SPORTS career having racked up 74 tackles, 19.5 tackles for loss, and 11 sacks.

Let's hope this trade with the Als is as good as the one we made in 1981. We got a rookie DF tackle converted him to offence, and the rest is history.

I don't think we traded for him in '81.. and I hope we don't convert Lawson to the Oline... |

So we filled a needed on our DL with Mr. Lawson. Looks like he had pretty good career at Queens. The down side to this is we now have one pick in the first three rounds of the draft.

Walby was drafted in 81, played 5 games and was traded to the Bombers.

Boy, I don't remember anything regarding Lawson in MTL from 2021... but KW/DMM/MOS must have seen something in him. Often hard to get noticed as a rookie NAT DT.
This is awesome news from a platoon-with-Fatboi perspective. Really helps us until(!) Kongbo comes back.
