Blue Bombers add former Kansas State receiver Dalton Schoen

WINNIPEG, MB., April 7, 2022 - The Winnipeg Blue Bombers today announce the club has signed American wide receiver Dalton Schoen.

Schoen (6'1, 210, Kansas State, October 13, 1996 in Overland Park, KS) originally signed as an undrafted free agent with the LA Chargers in 2020, but was released following training camp. In 2021, he signed a futures contract with the Kansas City Chiefs and later that year joined Washington's practice roster. He re-joined the Chiefs in December of 2021, being added to their practice roster. Schoen was a walk-on at Kansas State, climbing up the depth chart to eventually start as a sophomore, and record 92 receptions for 1,569 yards and nine touchdowns over 34 games from 2017-2019.

Highlights of Dalton Schoen. Like the fact he can make the tough catches.

I like his speed, and he runs with power.

So, two year deal, right?  With an NFL look option after 1?  minimum 2 years before Jones can offer him $300k? Wink

Wonder if players are going to regret signing before the new CBA?  Or does the new CBA preempt current deals?

This guy seems to have strong hands on contested catches and appears to have the ability to know how to take a hit.

The question of whether or not CFL is F/T or P/T is now in a separate thread.  This thread is for Dalton Schoen only.

Currently the Bombers have signed 5 rookie import receivers. I'd expect another 8 or so by TC since we lost : Adams, Lawler, Nelson and Grant. Somebody new is definitely going to make the roster.

Early days of TC may give us somewhat more of an idea.

Schoen looks like a decent candidate.

We didn't know who Lawler or Bailey were before they joined the team. Most high lite videos look good but sometimes it's very deceiving. Men against boys in some US colleges when good players play against bad players, they look unstoppable.

Coaches look / listen to college coaches about work effort and technique for example. An excellent receiver with a bad QB may not look as good as he might with a better than average QB. Even some talented players don't quite make the transition to the pro level. Adjusting to the CFL game is difficult for many players and others adjust in a minute.

Looking forward to who wins roster spots and brings excitement to the game.
