Let's not forget that Fajardo renegotiated his contract earlier this year. That saved the Riders a little money.

Sounds like a change of heart for DB Alden Darby, who not be joining the #Redblacks.

Well where is he going?

The word out there is that Hamilton is looking for him but there is nothing that says he will end up there.

I'm not disputing what Collaros is " worth but $80K - $125K over the next few QB's on the list? It cost us something but what exactly is not clear. In the end if the team is competitive and takes a run in the playoffs and or Grey Cup, it's irrelevant.

If we struggle in roster areas like kicking, back up QB or missing someone like Richardson there will be questions. Things like this will be a season long discussion. We'll probably be watching the consequences of not having Adams or Harris as well. It's not easy building a competitive roster and balancing against the SMS decisions.

I had suggested earlier that Harris at QB might come relatively cheap. Were we in the hunt? Every QB except Collaros seemed to miss game time. Odds are against him not having some injuries in 2022. Maybe we find a decent rookie QB to back him up when needed.

Harris isn't any more likely to start in Montreal unless there is an injury although there might be more of a 2 QB used at times in some games.

Obviously a team winning or losing goes far beyond just the QB.

I agree with you, but there are mitigating factors here.

Collaros is on the upswing and at his max negotiating power.

Literally every other QB is coming off a poor or injured riddled season. Any one of them has a good season this year and their salary shoots ight back up to where Zach is or higher.

Delvin Breaux did not return to Hamilton, wonder if that's why they went after Darby...

Can't disagree with you. Just curious what other offers he might have had. That may have forced our hand to pay more. We've gotten 2 Grey Cups having Collaros so no argument there.

Contracts are a gamble as are player choices. Some over perform and some under perform.

I would have been more comfortable at $500K or slightly less but it is what it is. The other $50K might have saves us Richardson for example. Don't know since we don't know what many of our players that left got elsewhere.

We may have the next Richardson already on the roster. Or we may have the next M. Jones or Alford by TC.

Will be more curious to see how Edmonton does after paying Lawler $300K. No doubt he'll do well but where on their roster did they give up someone as a result? As a 3 - 11 team missing the play offs, they have a long way to go. If their young QB's do well, they might be in the hunt. Or they could be the 2018 Argos who spent $270K on a receiver.

No crystal ball knowing who stays healthy on any team etc.

From a Bomber point of view it may have cost us a more veteran QB @ # 2? That could change or we might be sitting with no experience.

The Elks are under budget at QB, I think Arbuckle is around $350 and Cornie is still on his ELC.

Any shavings the Bombers could have saved would more realistically been used to retain players like Darby or Jones, players as highly coveted as Richardson and Lawler were as good as gone from the end of last season.
