Bombers should have signed Darby. Why let a player like him go.

That's awesome... that really helps them with ratio!
Wait, what? Really?
Nevermind...
Personally, I don't think they make this move unless they expect a change in the CBA Re: national QBs.

Like what? Starting a National QB counts as 1 of the starting 7. OTOH, as QB's they don't count as part of the 21 needed on the roster whether start or are # 2. BTW. I read this morning on Lionbackers that Harris signed in Montreal?

From the Twitter feed, it sounds like it did get put into the CBA... which is cool... Weird that having 2 NAT QB's would be ratio breaking, and that those QB's would be the lowest paid QB tandem in the league. Ratio usually costs more...

Maston is back and ready to go, probably cheaper as well.

Toronto Argonauts have signed American defensive lineman Adrian Tracy to a one-year contract for the 2022 season.
The 34-year-old Tracy is coming out of retirement to play with the Argos after not getting the chance to play with Montreal, who he signed with prior to the 2020 season, due to the cancelled season.

Dave Naylor @TSNDaveNaylor QB Trevor Harris 1-year deal with @MTLAlouettes for $125k plus playtime incentive bonuses. #CFL #Als 5:42 AM ? Feb 9, 2022
This is so cheap, I can't imagine why the Bombers wouldn't have snapped him up, they have virtually nothing to backup Collaros.

Why won't BC, Sask, Elks, Argo's, it's just a great deal.

I don't know and I don't really care what those other teams do. It could be that Harris carries too much baggage for teams to bother with now.

I'm not disputing what Collaros is " worth but $80K - $125K over the next few QB's on the list? It cost us something but what exactly is not clear. In the end if the team is competitive and takes a run in the playoffs and or Grey Cup, it's irrelevant. If we struggle in roster areas like kicking, back up QB or missing someone like Richardson there will be questions. Things like this will be a season long discussion. We'll probably be watching the consequences of not having Adams or Harris as well. It's not easy building a competitive roster and balancing against the SMS decisions. I had suggested earlier that Harris at QB might come relatively cheap. Were we in the hunt? Every QB except Collaros seemed to miss game time. Odds are against him not having some injuries in 2022. Maybe we find a decent rookie QB to back him up when needed. Harris isn't any more likely to start in Montreal unless there is an injury although there might be more of a 2 QB used at times in some games. Obviously a team winning or losing goes far beyond just the QB.
