Walters built the Bombers fro the trenches....seems like BC is going about it in exactly the opposite manner. Their O-Line allowed too many hits on Reilly and he ended up retiring.....not sure they can win using this strategy. I remember MOS handing the QB reins over to an unproven Willy and that was an unmitigated disaster....until we picked up Matt Nichols who provided some stability at this position. If Rourke prevails it will be the first time since Russ Jackson that a Canadian starting QB was a success. That's over half a century ago....and I mean I wish him well but it would be precedent setting if he made it throughout an entire season as their starter.
BC may be okay on the offensive line (or at least better). They have re-signed Chung and Figueroa (who was hurt a lot last year), as well as extending Philip Norman. They also have Broxton coming back, who was making a case for an OT spot but got injured. At the same time, they have let Hunter Steward and Ryker Matthews walk, one because he was mediocre, the other due to concussion. I think they may be moving on from Godber at centre, and will slot Phillip Norman in there, where he had some success in 2019. They can do this because they start 2 Canadian linebackers on D, and it sounds like they are making a play for David Menard to give them another Canuck on the d-line. With Cottoy and Shaq Johnson back, they only need two Canadians for the 0-line. If they end up starting a Canadian at RB (which is also rumoured) they they have 8 Cdn starters and only 2 them are offensive linemen. Don't get me wrong, Rourke still has a big hill to climb in terms of being ready, but I think his protection will be better this year than it was for Reilly last year.

Have to keep a keen eye on those Argos, they could sign a half dozen F.A. receivers and still be looking to scoop up Lawler.

He absolutely does. Probably had initial offers from most teams.

Sure but he's had 10 days to speak or hear from every team. We've seen many players accept an offer and sign elsewhere. Is there an advantage waiting until tomorrow? IMO Lawler has not yet decided to give up on his NFL dream. In theory he can wait. OTOH money available may be reduced or gone as teams make decisions elsewhere.

There are two options: he's waiting on the NFL or he has agreed to terms and it simply hasn't leaked yet.

300k.....for a receiver.....300k...Lawler can play but no receiver should be anywhere near that....300k I just can't grasp this....Maybe for a star LT or DE but for a receiver...really.....

well the Bombers won't be in the picture because they just can't afford him.....however they haven't rushed out to find a decent replacement for him either. Times a wastin' as they say!

I can't understand why BC would be bidding, there are only 5 receiver spots and they already have Lucky, Burnham, Cottoy and Rhymes signed. Plus they have a rookie QB and only one football to throw.

You do understand: A: FA season is Not open yet B: Reports of offers and signed deals are leaks from players / teams C: Walters tends not to work that way.

We don't know that, free agency hasn't opened yet.
