It's not just rent. Cost of living usually refers to a host of things not simply rent/shelter costs. You wanna go out to eat? Costs more in Vancouver. Your grocery store bill? More expensive. These guys aren't exactly eating cheap prepacked stuff either. After a quick Google:

Consumer Prices in Vancouver are 7.67% higher than in Winnipeg (without rent)
Consumer Prices Including Rent in Vancouver are 31.72% higher than in Winnipeg
Rent Prices in Vancouver are 100.33% higher than in Winnipeg
Restaurant Prices in Vancouver are 21.65% higher than in Winnipeg
Groceries Prices in Vancouver are 12.31% higher than in Winnipeg
Local Purchasing Power in Vancouver is 12.20% lower than in Winnipeg

Thanks for the data. It's interesting.

Rent is the big difference @ 100% higher. The groceries and Restaurant prices don't match my experience, but I'm not doubting them.

Lets call it an additional $500 a month, so 1500*6=$9000.

500 a month doesn't cover the difference in rent....soooo let's not call it that.

I believe it's possible we'll get a secondary market guy. Depending on the value vs.  what we already have on the roster.

But whenever someone throws out the name of a Lawler replacement, it's always one of the high money guys. I don't think that is in the cards. Our Lawler replacement is Bailey.

I don't know about that, Bailey is a good solid receiver and great on the sweeps, but I saw little evidence that he can win one on one battles or contort gravity to make the big catches. Lawler is one step above him and I don't think those skills are easily acquired, you have them or you don't.

what I liked about Bailey was his second effort after catching the ball....shows good speed on those sweeps as well....but yeah he's not a jump baller like Lawler nor can he make those leaping, diving and twisting in mid air catches.

Ellingson has the ability to make those kind of grabs.  We definitely need a guy to go up and get contested balls.  But, said receiver doesn't have to hit the same overall production as Lawler.  I think Bailey could get more targets this year, as could Wolitarsky. If Adams returns and stays healthy, he could definitely get more targets than last year.

If Brescanin wasn't such a band-aid, he would be the right kind of skill set to add to this receiving corps.

Looks like Ed Gainey is done with the Riders, headed for the Elks or the exit door?

That's why I used $1000 as the difference for rent + an additional $500 for the groceries and restaurants. Seems to me that you're just making things up to complain about.

Riders announce that they have re-signed American LB Larry Dean.

Lions signed WR Crockett that was in our TC last year. He's the 2nd Bomber TC receiver they are bringing. Adarius Stewart was the other one.

No doubt. It does suggest they aren't really expecting to land Lawler. He may have told them he plans to further look at an NFL opportunity. He's a free agent on Feb 8th and can take longer to look if he chooses.

If he returns later in 2022 he may have less CFL options dues to SMS available and teams needing a receiver. Especially true on 1 year deals if a team is not looking to make playoffs for example.

Something like W. Rose being able to return late to the Bombers obviously projected to be a GC contender. Also easier to come with with an SMS to cover 3 regular season games.

Nope...just missed the part where you differentiated rent and other expenses. 1500-2000 dollars a month seems about right overall.
