We probably won't be at $250,000 but I would guess we'd be in the low $200,000s with the sales pitch of playoff money, great culture and the league's best QB. Both will be competitive offers for sure.

I would be shocked if we offered 200.

We can't keep them all, and we certainly can not hold ill will if Lawler takes a a higher offer somewhere else. I question the thought process in BC....big money receivers but minimal investment on the lines to doesn't seem like the best way to go about building....

I think Korte will be a very good pick-up (Edm. or who-ever) that's steep but IMO a far better value then Lawler or Lucky for the same or more a year, every year there are top receivers, but a potential cornerstone CDN lineman seems the way smarter investment.

I'd love to have Kenny Lawler back, but I wouldn't spend $250K on a receiver with all the raises we're giving out. Great for him - he should jump at the chance to make huge CFL coin!

Not even 24 hours into the tampering period and we are seeing some big names potentially moving ahead of free agency Feb 8. #CFLFA

Once again, some teams are sending the message to the CFLPA that earnings are no problem and their wallets are flush with cash.  It then looks really bad when they sit down to negotiate a new agreement, point to empty stadiums and cry poverty.  I think the CFL is schizophrenic, they can't help but shoot themselves in the foot whenever the chance to do so presents itself.

Their rookie Canadian QB is making 80K which gives BC plenty of cap space to maneuver.   Burnham makes 165K and Whitehead is at 200K.    It's highly unlikely he will resign with us when that kind of money is being offered.    He was originally cut loose by the Lions....however under a different coach and GM at the time.
It's ironic that we now have the best QB in the league who likely will have new receivers to get acquainted with whereas BC is betting their wad on Rourke surrounded with 3 top receivers....however his NFL aspirations are still unresolved as we speak.    It's putting us in a bind really....

I think Rourke must be earning more than $80,000, Campbell doesn't anoint him his #1 QB and not offer him better money.  I would guess $125,00-$150,000 at least, with bonus opportunities.

even at 150 K that's 400K less than we pay Zach.   You can afford to throw money around however their logic seems to be flawed....just a tad.    Declaring an unproven rookie as starting QB based on what....one game at the end of the season with nothing on the line?   Suspect strategy at best and what of their O-line?
It would be great to have Lawler and Bailey back but that's starting to look doubtful at the moment.....we will know by the end of the week what things will start to look like in Bomberland!  Buckle up!

What he probably does is anoint him the presumptive starter going into camp to build his confidence.  If he actually keeps the top job through preseason and the first game or two, then you come back to him with an extension.  The signing bonus on the extension could get him over $150k for this year, and you can probably lock him down for $250k for 2023.  After that, you have to pay him market value or he has busted out by then.

Oh yes, the old "Drew Willy trick", worked for awhile anyway, I think the Bombers shot out of the gate 5-1 in his first season.

I think BC did the same thing with Jonathan Jennings when he took over from Lulay, he sure wasn't making very much.

Just read that Fajardo has restructured his 2022 contract, I wonder if this was done to try to sign Duke Williams, given Cody's frustrations with all other rider receivers last year

I don't understand BC's strategy in signing FA's. First they signed Reilly to a massive contract that handcuffed the team, and he didn't pan out. Now they go offering Whitehead and Lawler a boat load of money as well as resigned Burnham, and they have a Qb with only the last game of the season's experience. Hope the kid pans out as they've signed 3 big time recievers and have no backup Qb . Strange....

Arbuckle may pop loose, currently Elks battling with the RB's to sign Masoli, currently up to $400,000.  If Jones wins he will probably have to dump or trade Arbuckle, BC would be a good destination.

I am curious as to how they plan to handle the ratio.  They released Durant, Cottoy is on NFL workouts, and Shaw Johnson is still unsigned.  They need to start 2 NTL receivers unless they change somewhere else.

BC's purported offer if correct, helps the Bombers in a way.  Bombers aren't going to pay him $250,000 or even $200,000.  Lawler will take the $250,000 or a better offer in the NFL if offered.  In any event he is gone.  The Bomber's likely budgeted for around $150,000-$165,000 for him.  They now can take a good portion of that money  to increase the amount offered to players such as Richardson, Alexander and Bailey.  Personally, I wouldn't be looking at any of the potential FA receivers especially if it's going to cost more than $100,000.  I'd rather look at bringing in a bunch of new recruits. My opinion only.

I thought we d lose some.of.our starters to.other teams because of outrageous offers, I just didn't think.it would be BC and Lawler given his intense dislike for them when we played them, saying that game was personal..so much for.that, I guess a boat load of cash can bury a lot of hatchets.

If he does sign with BC, there are still a lot of FA receivers available to fill.the void, Greg Elingson comes to mind. I m sure he'd want the heck out of Edmonton now with Jones at.the helm and his Qb Harris traded.away. I can see him lighting it up.here big time.

I agree to a point.

I think after the first wave of recievers go on these big deals, there will be a secondary market for guys who need a spot to play.
