Story on Greg Ellingson's journey to Winnipeg....

"You want to go somewhere you feel like you can have success"

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have had Greg Ellingson in their crosshairs before - on a couple of occasions, actually - but have now landed their coveted target.

The Blue Bombers added the veteran receiver as Canadian Football League free agency opened, signing Ellingson to a one-year contract extension on a day that was as much about his arrival as it was about change on Chancellor Matheson Road and across the other eight markets....

The complete story is here!

Ellington certainly still has game in him. Glad we moved on from Adams even though he has played many games in Wpg and he will be missed. Lawler is good but definitely no where near 300K good. He is lucky Elks are desperate for winning this season else no team in their right mind would pay Lawler that much. Shows Elks were the most desperate out of the bunch of Ottawa, Lions and Elks.

CFL needs to increase the cap and start improving their $$ business model. $300k is about right for a player like Lawler. Everyone whines about losing players all regular season and when the off-season hits us, we go against what we believe during the season? come on. Start paying the players.

Darvin Adams is a great receiver and will be missed. However him missing more games during the season like Andrew Harris is an issue

We pay what the SMS allows us to pay. If we could pay more we would.

CFL teams can't afford an increase. Even they doubled the SMS then teams would just be able to " buy players " in the open market.

Were you a CFL fan before there was a SMS? Bigger SMS or no SMS doesn't change anything. In 1991 I think the Argos paid the " Rocket " Ismail $1M

Rocket Ismail? I am sure that is who you meant and yea they paid him a million and almost collapsed the league as every other team had to go kaflooey on salary to keep up with McNall.

Yep. I knew Rogers didn't sound right and might have been thinking of Johnny Rogers in Montreal too. I think he got a bunch of money relative to that era.  Bilitnikoff and Ferragamo couldn't have been cheap.

Better yet look at the NFL. Does paying any player $30M+ a season make them better than paying them $15M if NFL budgets were cut in half?
