Like always that's al-lot of guys not signed yet.
I really do believe that one of the biggest problems with the CFL is the 1 yr contract....for me personally the last jerseys I bought were Dunnigan retro and Stegall now-retro...Its not that I don't like any of the new guys but I have been burnt too many times with a jersey purchase only to have the player leave.

Only 8 players signed for 2022 so far. Virtually our entire roster needs to be re-signed. Walters has done a good job in that area and I suspect he'll do it again.
I wonder what the players views are regarding an expiring CBA and how that plays into waiting or signing early.

I really do believe that one of the biggest problems with the CFL is the 1 yr contract....for me personally the last jerseys I bought were Dunnigan retro and Stegall now-retro...Its not that I don't like any of the new guys but I have been burnt too many times with a jersey purchase only to have the player leave.
There is an easy fix but some won't like it. Start offering guaranteed (or partly guaranteed) contracts. Players will suddenly have incentive to lock in for longer, particularly after a strong year. Why would players sign a contract that can be unilaterally voided by the club at anytime? The alternative is bargaining for a mandatory two year contract under some circumstances or a NFL style franchise tag but the crux of the problem is it makes very little economic sense for players to commit for longer than one year. |

The solution is pick your favourite players number and then have your name or a funny (gag) name put on the back, then you will always have it and it will always be in "style". |

That's a 56% pay cut, he deserves to be compensated after the season he had, but is there enough money in the bank to do so? I think he deserves a bump from $115k to $150k but I wouldn't go higher, Walters should never have promised him $260,000 for his 3rd season.

Yes nothing wrong with finding a job for them but a business should not be paying a player anything unless the player is actually working for that company. |

They need to crack down on fake jobs specifically designed to circumvent the cap. But Adam getting a job in his field that he's actively working in? That's great community building. |

There is an easy fix but some won't like it. Start offering guaranteed (or partly guaranteed) contracts. Players will suddenly have incentive to lock in for longer, particularly after a strong year. Why would players sign a contract that can be unilaterally voided by the club at anytime?
The alternative is bargaining for a mandatory two year contract under some circumstances or a NFL style franchise tag but the crux of the problem is it makes very little economic sense for players to commit for longer than one year.
They can talk to death about solutions, but this is the only real answer. Fully guaranteed contracts will never happen. But a large enough guarantee that will ensure job security would help so much. |

Make teams set rosters after T.C. and stick with them, end the practice of endless shopping and upgrading the roster unless for injury replacements. |

Tell that to Ottawa, Edmonton or even BC this past year! Even the Bombers with their kicking situation this season early on! Building/Re-Building mid-season does not usually work out, but sometimes you pick up a few good players for the next season. |
