BLUE BOMBERS, VALOUR FC PARTNER WITH PROVINCE TO HELP TACKLE COVID-19

WINNIPEG, MB., April 26, 2021 - The Winnipeg Football Club (WFC) is lending its weight to the blitz against COVID-19 by becoming vaccine ambassadors in the ProtectMB campaign, Health and Seniors Care Minister Heather Stefanson announced today.

"This is the largest vaccine campaign in Manitoba's history, and every person who chooses to be immunized has a place on our team," said Stefanson. "The vaccine helps to bring us back to the things we love, like cheering on our teams, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and Valour FC. Together, we can protect ourselves, each other and our community - and we appreciate the leadership of the WFC in lending their strength to this work."

Building on their longstanding practice of community involvement, Blue Bombers players, alumni and coaches as well as Valour FC players will lend their voices to the ProtectMB campaign in the weeks ahead. This will focus on social media outreach including videos, photos and testimonials from the club about why the vaccine is important to them and their commitment to be immunized as soon as they're eligible.

"We stand alongside our fellow Manitobans in the fight against COVID-19 and it's easy to say that no one wants to return to IG Field to celebrate together more than the members of our organization," said Winnipeg Football Club president and CEO Wade Miller. "We know our fans will help us tackle COVID together and get vaccinated so we can return to the things we love, like our game days at the stadium."

The minister noted it is National Immunization Awareness Week, which runs from April 24 to 30. The province, the Blue Bombers and Valour FC encourage Manitobans to join them in the effort to #ProtectMB by sharing their own immunization stories or their commitment to be vaccinated when it's their turn.

So does this mean the Bombers and Valour players will also be vaccinated during the week of April 24-30.
