Will the axe fall on Chevy

I doubt it. Chevy did nothing at the trade dead line to help this team. Benn was an insurance policy at best. Perfetti at #10 still not sure that was right pick, however at that time we were thinking C. All in all we have a good foundation. We need a couple of pieces to take the next step.

Quite agree that Chevy failed at the deadline ....... may have tried a lot but overvaluing Forbort, DeMelo & Poolman was a big downfall
Benn was his answer over Niku, Heinola & Nogier ..... Chevy still hasn't replaced Myers let alone our coveted big Buff & how nice Chiarot, spilled milk, would have looked
Course it didn't help that the Habs stopped Pionk's mobility & Morrissey was in trouble when pressed & rarely carried the puck over center vs the Habs

Perfetti was just average at best when I saw him play in the World Jrs & recently with Team Canada's scaled down yet wonderfully successful gang.
He knows how to help a PP but his 5-5 skating & toughness is a couple years away from NHL caliber.    Congrats though, to his strong finish with the Moose.

There is a rumour the Jets may protect Demelo in the expansion draft instead of Logan Stanley.
Any idea if this is true ?  Huh

Will the axe fall on Chevy

Why would it? The Jets technically overachieved again this season when so many analysts had them finishing in the bottom 3 of the North Division and out of playoff contention. Hellebuyck had another MVP campaign and the GM's main responsibility in the off-season will be to tune up the blue line.

There is a rumour the Jets may protect Demelo in the expansion draft instead of Logan Stanley.
Any idea if this is true ?  Huh

What's the source of this rumour? Because that would make absolutely no sense.

Here's the article, but it was written in March.

Neither of those are rumours; they're articles based on factual information at the time. Back then, Stanley hadn't met the requirement of games played to be eligible for exposure based on expansion draft rules*. So, Morrissey, Pionk, and DeMelo were the logical choices to be protected. Stanley wasn't part of that equation back in March because he wasn't slated to be exposed at that time.

Now that Stanley's since become eligible to be exposed*, I fully expect he'll be protected over DeMelo based on his age, talent, and especially his ceiling in terms of potential as a defenseman.

* Stanley had to play 27 games this past season to be exposed and he played 37

This article says the Flyers are interested in trading Nolan Patrick.

Her had some good seasons in Brandon, and a couple of decent seasons in Philly, then not so good this season.

Contract Status
Cap Hit of $925,000 to 2019-20
Cap Hit of $874,125 to 2020-21 (RFA)

However, it appears had has had some injury problems, so it might be risky to sign him, but the price might be right.

Should we try to make a deal in case Dubois doesn't pan out ?

I'd say Dubois is the better option in terms of his two-way play and versatility, not to mention his durability. His possession metrics and overall production are better, too. Plus he's already a Jet with a year left and I'd say I like the chances of him re-signing here, too.

With a full TC and pre-season, I expect him to be better next season as he continues to build chemistry in the top 6.

We made Edmonton look pretty ordinary, but floundered against Montreal.
Starting to wonder if we played badly, or if if Montreal was just that good ?

Maybe it was just that time for the Habs to bask in the Sun ....... while our defense were in chaos too often, scorers got cold & Scheif was out after the 1st game.

Montreal had a pretty good group of players to start the season. Injuries, and CP31 not playing really caused them some problems.

Montreal got healthy, CP31 played very well, CC22, and some trade deadline moves improved there team and gave them some depth we just didn't have.

Seth Jones would look good in a Jet's jersey.

Montreal has a GM who knows what he is doing.
A coach that knows what he has and a system that fits the players.

Simply, Winnipeg does not.

Maurice is a passenger, four years of being unable to create a viable line up is proof.  Not a winner, but good gatekeeper.
Chevy similar, can't pull the trigger on character or keep good guys.

I am embarassed we couldn't figure out how to play Montreal.m the defence of The Jets looked like house league literally running all over the place.

Hasnt Luke Richardson looked good?
