Today's transactions were mostly anticipated with a few minor tweaks. I would have thought / expected a transaction for Mourtada would have happened at the same time. Where they put him might be the issue being looked at. He may decline a PR spot where I expected him to be place.

If that is the case ( speculation only ) then the choices are 1 game IR or outright release. I suppose we could put him on the 6 game IR but that would flaunt the rules IMO.

These CFL quarterbacks are set to become free agents in February 2022

McLeod Bethel-Thompson, Toronto Argonauts

Zach Collaros, Winnipeg Blue Bombers

The ten-year veteran has turned back the clock this season, playing like the Most Outstanding Player candidate we saw in Hamilton five years ago. Collaros leads the league in passing yards (2,832), touchdown passes (18) and quarterback efficiency rating (111.7) and is widely considered the front-runner to win M.O.P. this year.

Dominique Davis, Ottawa Redblacks

Dane Evans, Hamilton Tiger-Cats

Isaac Harker, Saskatchewan Roughriders

Jake Maier, Calgary Stampeders

Jeremiah Masoli, Hamilton Tiger-Cats

Sean McGuire, Winnipeg Blue Bombers

The 25-year-old has been in The Peg since the start of the 2019 season and has played sparingly, completing four-of-nine pass attempts for 72 yards. With Winnipeg having already clinched first place in the West Division, it's possible we'll see a lot of McGuire over the next three weeks.

David Watford, Hamilton Tiger-Cats

Signed through 2022: Vernon Adams Jr., Montreal Alouettes; Nick Arbuckle, Edmonton Elks; Taylor Cornelius, Edmonton Elks; Caleb Evans, Ottawa Redblacks; Cody Fajardo, Saskatchewan Roughriders; Trevor Harris, Montreal Alouettes; Paxton Lynch, Saskatchewan Roughriders; Bo Levi Mitchell, Calgary Stampeders; Matt Nichols, Ottawa Redblacks; Dakota Prukop, Edmonton Elks; Michael Reilly, B.C. Lions.

I expect Collaros to re-up in Winnipeg.  I expect Vernon Adams to come back to Montreal, and Harris to be let go in the off-season.  I expect only one of Dane Evans and Masoli to return to Hamilton.

So, at a minimum, we could have Trevor Harris and Jeremiah Masoli as two veterans and established starters on the market. The blue chip back-up who may get attention is Maier.  So the question is who will be looking at them?

I think Ottawa will add a QB, but will also bring back Caleb and the Duck.  I think the odds are 50-50 whether the Argos stick with McLeod or look to add someone.  The REAL interesting question is whether the end of this season causes Reilly or Mitchell to retire, or get openly challenged.  If they both end the season badly, and there is a hit to the SMS as a result of the new CBA that's needed, then I think there is a chance that they both simply pack it in.  In that case, Harris, Masoli, Maier and maybe McLeod become much more valuable commodities.

Didn't "Duck" Hodges sign a three year deal with Ottawa when he came up?

Kinda reminds me of the QB carousel in the off-season preceding 2014. Collaros, Glenn, Burris, Willy, and Reilly just a year before.

QUICK HITS - WEEK 14 - DAY 1

ROSTER SHUFFLE: The Bombers made some roster moves on Monday, releasing LB Jontrell Rocquemore, DE Nick Dheilly, WR James Tyrell, K Gabriel Ferraro, DB David Rivers and OL Jalen Burks from the practice roster. Rocquemore, who dressed for seven games and started the season opener, became expendable with the return to health of Kevin Brown, who is a hellacious special-teams player.

"It wasn't just Jontrell, we unfortunately had to let go of six players because we added three (Rose, Castillo and Shaq Cooper)," said O'Shea. "There' a limited number of spots you have on your rosters and we're not the type of team that just is going to carry injured guys week to week that aren't injured... We've got 18 guys that aren't dressing for games that are practicing and 24 was just a number that was ballooning."

Nice to hear that Winston Rose that contacted the Bombers about returning to the CFL. Nice to know he is very happy playing in Winnipeg.

That was my assumption when we signed him. I didn't think we actively pursued him because quite frankly we didn't need to do so. However, once he called and gave us first shot at his services we pretty much had to sign him or he would be with a division rival right now. Glad he called us first.

Says a lot about how far this franchise has come under the current regime, IMO. The fact that players want to stay here or return here speaks volumes about the culture of the WFC right now.
